Sylvia Yvette Carter

Sylvia Yvette Carter was born 0n August 18,1966 to union of the late Levester and Geraldine Harvey in Atlanta, Georgia at Grady Memorial Hospital. Yes, she was a “Grady” baby and proud of it. After graduating from Decatur High School in 1984, she went to college at Atlanta Area Tech to pursue her dream of Culinary Arts as a cook. Sylvia “loved” to cook. Everywhere she went she prepared and cooked for families, friends, and many church events. She even prepared food for the homeless. If you needed her, she was always willing to help. She was a cherished sister and friend with a golden heart for Christ. Sylvia never had any biological kids, but God gave her many kids to care for and love including her stepdaughters, Shante Brown, Vernish Barbara, and Keyshara Williams. As a member of Living Water Christian Church, she created and orchestrated the “Praying Angels” dance team. The “Praying Angels” traveled and performed at many events always dancing their best for Jesus! The “Praying Angels” performed at The Way of Truth under the leadership of Pastor Kent where Sylvia later became a member. Every church Sylvia served at strengthen her walk in the Lord! While living in Fredericksburg, Virginia with her best friend, Dr. Angela Hall, Sylvia learned to read and write with the help of her God daughter, Angelique Langley, to get a better understanding of the bible. Sylvia had a thirst and hunger for seeking the Lord. Her study of the bible extended to completing an online bible study course with the Women of Faith from Beyond Salvation Ministry. Upon returning to Georgia in 2021, Sylvia helped Dr. Angela Hall with establishing and building Healing Empower Love and Prosperity (H.E.L.P) Outreach ministry where she rededicated and surrendered her life to God and was later baptized in 2023 at Living Water Christian Church by Dr. Hall. Sylvia Yvette Carter departed this life on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father, Levester Harvey, her mother, Geraldine Harvey, sister, MeMie R. Soan and brother, Leon Harvey. She leaves to cherish her memory: Her sister, Marica Harvey and brother Jason Harvey. Her Uncles, Jessie Carter (Susan), and Nathanial Carter. Her Aunts, Dortha and Mary Carter. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services entrusted to Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home, 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur, GA 30034.
