Steven Eugene Thomas

Steven Eugene Thomas was born to Ernestine Graham and Freddie Thomas on August 8, 1968 in Flower Fifth Avenue hospital in New York City.From his earliest days he had a love of engines. He would take apart his toys to figure out how each part worked then put them back together. This love continued to grow on his journey to become a master technician. During his time at Collegedale Academy he built his little sister a bicycle from the ground up, her first. He had a need for speed and if you've ever ridden shotgun with him you likely had a brief encounter with your Saviour. Steven received his education from various schools acquiring a multitude of friends, who became family, along the way. No matter where his travels took him it was clear that he was a New Yorker to his core. At the age of 20 he welcomed his first child, Vanessa, into the world. While working at Playland Park in Rye, New York he met and fell in love with Nichelle. They were married on June 22, 1997. In the years to follow his legacy would grow with the addition of Mya, Cyrus and Jade. He accomplished his goal of acquiring his degree by graduating from Pace University. His love for travel and adventure took him to Bermuda, Aruba, Cancun and Puerto Rico to name a few. The Thomases migrated to the Atlanta area to provide their family with a better quality of life and for reasons pertaining to Steven's health, the NY cold became too much for his Lupus. When life would throw him adversities he never ceased speaking about his countless blessings. He maintained his connection to the automotive industry managing lube centers and car washes around Atlanta. He later transitioned to his most important role, a stay-at-home dad. For Steven it was always family first. After the passing of his beloved wife he walked the road of parenting alone. Doing his best and giving his all to his children, he would often question whether or not he was right or wrong. In 2013 he joined Mountain West Church and in 2015 he became a baptized member. Steven's foundation was always in the Lord and he would return to its strength during life's difficulties. He became fully disabled a little more than 2 years prior to his demise succumbing to Lupus, CoPD, Congenital Heart failure, Rheumatoid arthritis and gout. His legacy will be carried on through his adoring children Vanessa Thomas and her mother Verna Philgence, Mya Helton (daughter in law, Casey Helton), Cyrus Thomas, and Jade Thomas. He was the proud grandfather to Aiden Porter. His beloved mother and care taker, Ernestine Graham – Wright (stepfather, Rickey Wright) and his father, Freddie Thomas (stepmother, Felicia Thomas). His loving sister, Talitha “Nyckee” Graham. His cherished niece, Sarah Graham and her mother, Anushka “Destiny” Waters. His treasured best friends, Donovan "Troy" Simons, Marsha Ellis, Jazmin and Victor Pantoja, their daughter Vianna Pantoja, and Marcella Watts along with a host of loving family and friends. The Celebration of Life for Mr. Steven Thomas will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Mountain West Church, 4818 Hugh Howell Rd. Stone Mountain, GA 30087.
