Sonta Kerr Murray, 51, Lawerencillve, GA, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 17th, 2023. Born on Friday, March 17, 1972 in Cordele, GA, Sonta was the daughter of Ms. Betty Barber and Mr. Charles Kerr. Sonta completed her educational studies at Albany State University and pursued her doctoral degree at the University of Georgia. She was an esteemed teacher and leader in the Gwinnett County Public School System. Sonta was awarded the honor of Teacher of the Year for Moore Middle School in 2022. In addition to her academic and professional pursuits, Sonta was CEO of Leggo Now, a lifestyle brand dedicated to propelling others to “Let Go” of anything holding them back from achieving excellence. Sonta was the curator and designer for the Leggo Now fashion show in 2020. She will always be known for her visionary leadership and her vibrant, fun and optimistic personality. Sonta was a loving and devoted mother to her three kids Angel Smith, Nyla Murray, and Tason Murray. She enjoyed spending quality time with family and was always supportive and present for any family gathering and event. Sonta was the epitome of love, grace and positivity. Sonta Kerr Murray is survived by her parents Ms. Betty Barber and Mr. Charles (Joann) Kerr, three children, Angel Smith, Nyla and Tason Murray, a brother Rustavious Kerr, sisters Venetta Barber, Rise’ (Lional) Jenkins, TeQuila Chyna (Caurice) Ates, and Kelli (Donald) Smith. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, students, co-workers and friends who adored her energy and passion for life. The funeral service for Sonta Kerr Murray will take place on Saturday, March 25th at 11am in the Gregory B. Levette and Sons Memorial Chapel located at 914 Scenic Hwy. S., Lawrencellive, GA 30045. The public viewing will be Friday, March 24th from 5pm - 8pm at Gregory B. Levette and Sons in Lawrenceville. Celebration of Life Services for Sonta Kerr- Murray will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM. These services will be recorded and streamed live.
