Sheila Hopkins

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our precious sister Sheila Evelyn Hopkins, a beloved daughter, sister aunt, and friend. Sheila transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 22 nd , 2026, at the age of 64. She was born on August 1 st ,1961 to Joseph Hopkins and Katherine Hopkins (Scott) in Bronx, NY. She attended PS55 Elementary School in Bronx, NY. And Secondary Schools in Fayetteville, NC, where she graduated from 71 st High School. She attended Fayetteville Tech in NC and received a degree in social work. She also attended Bennett College in Greensboro, NC. Sheila then moved to Virginia with her brother Douglas Hopkins where she worked at The School of the Deaf and Blind in Hampton, VA. She continued her journey to help others and moved to Lawrenceville, GA and worked for a private adoption agency. She landed at Peachford Hospital where she worked for over 25 years as a compassionate and devoted Patient Advocate. Shelia's passion for advocacy was not only meant for her career but for her most important work of all, her work for the Lord. Sheila was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Norcross, GA as an intercessor on the prayer team praying for the spiritual development and well-being of her brothers and sisters in Christ. She later joined Harvest International Church in Dacula, GA where she led the intercessory prayer ministry for Pastor Shelby Grant. Sheila was a true advocate for the Lord by defending the vulnerable in her career, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and living out Gods truth in her everyday life. Sheila was preceded in death by her mother Katherine S. McQueen and stepfather Earl Smith. She is survived by her father Joseph Hopkins, twin sister Cheryl Taylor (Terry) of Winston-Salem, NC, Douglas Hopkins (Sheila) of Portsmouth, VA, Tasha Grace of Fayetteville, NC, Kevin Hopkins (Laura) of Chesterfield, VA, Earl Smith Jr ( Lajoshica) of Dallas, TX. Her Chosen sisters Sharon Stackhouse, Shelia Coleman, Roxanne Brogden and Sebrecia Colquitt and Chosen Brother Mike Ashe. A host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, The WIne Down Wednesday Crew and lifelong friends whose friendship, kindness and steadfast support enriched her life.
