Shawn Anthony Tate Bibbs (32) of Ellenwood, Georgia passed Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Saint Philip AME Church 240 Candler Rd SE, Atlanta, GA 30317. Interment Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia. Levett and Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory INC. (770)285-6673. A life well lived…. Shawn, a gift from God, was born on March 10, 1986, Decatur, GA. He joined Saint Philip AME, at an early age. He worked in the Media Ministry of the Youth Church under the direction of Mr. Harold Armstrong. He was member of the Youth Choir, under the direction L’Tanya Moore -Copeland. Shawn was educated in DeKalb County School system. He graduated from Martin Luther King JR High School, Lithonia, GA (1974). During his high school years, he participated in JROTC for 4 years. He continued his education at Middle Georgia State University, Cochran, GA. Shawn’s love for the Air Force and a strong desire to serve his country led him to join the United States Air Force at the age of 19. He was stationed at Offutt AFB, Omaha, NE. Shawn was a leader during his Air Force basic training and continued to lead when he became an Airman. He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was an excellent Data Communication/ radio operator on the E-4B, National Airborne Operations Center. His military assignments allowed him to travel all over the world, Germany, Russia, Africa, Italy etc. Shawn volunteered for a tour of duty in Iraq. He received special training to complete critical missions while in Iraq. He received numerous Air Force recognitions, awards and medals. Shawn was a compassionated person who would give is shirt to any person in need. His smile would warm a room and draw people to him. He was an avid reader and writer. He loved to write poems for friends and family. His favorite book was the Bible. He loved family discussions about the bible and current events. Shawn leaves to cherish his life, two sons, Xzavier Harrell (9) and Isaiah Bibbs(7); loving parents, Lander and Cherrie Chavers and Anthony Bibbs; loving and devoted grandmother, Katie B. Tate. He has 7 sisters, and 2 brothers. He had a strong maternal support system thorough out his life that included his Uncles, Wille Tate (Sheryl); Walter Tate (Ida); Aunts, Dollie Benjamin (Fred) and Essie Tate (Demar). In addition, he has 7 aunts and 5 uncles who loved and supported him. He has a devoted God sister Talethia Banks (Kenneth). He leaves to cherish his memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
