Sharon Denise Leonard September 29, 1965-July 11, 2026 With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Sharon Denise Leonard, who entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 11, 2026, after nearly 61 years of bringing joy to everyone who knew and loved her. Sharon was born on September 29, 1965, to the loving union of Raymond Newell Leonard and Frances Ann Lovejoy-Leonard. From the very beginning, Sharon was a gift from God. Although doctors believed she would never leave the hospital after her birth, God had the final say. Through His grace and faithfulness, Sharon defied every expectation and became known throughout her life as someone who continually beat the odds. Her life stands as a beautiful testimony to God's power, faithfulness, and perfect plan. Sharon's life was centered around faith, family, and joy. She was a faithful member of both Covington Bible Baptist and Atlanta Bible Baptist Church, where she loved worshiping the Lord. Music brought her so much joy, and she could often be found singing loudly and playing her tambourine. One of her favorite parts of church was the opportunity to fellowship with others. Sharon never met a stranger, and people naturally gravitated toward her warm spirit, radiant smile, and genuine kindness. Family was at the heart of Sharon's life. She was rarely apart from those she loved, and every family gathering was made brighter by her presence. A true daddy's girl, she adored her father and deeply appreciated her mother's loving care, patience, and devotion. Her parents lovingly raised Sharon alongside her siblings, never allowing her to be defined by her differences. Instead, they encouraged her to experience life fully by including her in family outings and countless special occasions. Through Sharon, her family developed an even greater compassion for others, learning to see people through the eyes of love rather than focusing on what made them different. Sharon attended Atlanta City Schools before becoming a cherished participant at the Frazier Center Day Program, where she faithfully attended from 1988 until her retirement in 2020. For more than 31 years, she built lasting friendships, enjoyed meaningful activities, and enriched the lives of those around her. Anyone who knew Sharon knew she loved to celebrate life. Looking her best brought her happiness, whether getting her hair done, having her nails polished, or dressing up for an outing. She loved music, dancing, and good food, especially fried chicken and macaroni and cheese, which she called "roni and cheese." Although she loved every holiday, nothing compared to the excitement she had for her birthday. September 29 was the celebration she looked forward to all year long. Sharon leaves to celebrate her life: her devoted parents, Raymond Newell Leonard and Frances Ann Lovejoy-Leonard; her loving siblings, Jacquelyn (Antonio) Stokes, Angela (the late Kenneth Boyer), Gregory D. Leonard, and Rodney (Thyessa) Leonard; her beloved nieces and nephews, Bryce (Jelisa) Stokes, Morgan Stokes, Stephen (Autumn) Boyer, Andrew Boyer, LaDerro Leonard, and Caleb Leonard; her great-nieces, Micaylah, Elise, Skylynn, and Ashlynn; her special friends, Sister Hunter and Sister Floyd; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, church family, and dear friends who will forever treasure the joy she brought into their lives.
