FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS A CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE OF SARA LOUISE EDMONDSON Mrs. Sara Louise Edmondson, age 81, peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, surrounded by the love and presence of her family. Her life was a beautiful testament to faith, service, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Sara was born on February 20, 1945, in Anniston, Alabama, to the late Mr. James Rufus Howell and Mrs. Annie Laura Howell. She was the fourth of nine children, growing up in a close-knit family that instilled in her the values of resilience, compassion, and faith that would guide her throughout her life. She attended Anniston public schools and proudly graduated from Cobb High School in the Class of 1963. During her school years, Sara was selected to play the clarinet in the band, but with her vibrant spirit, she chose instead to shine as a majorette. Following graduation, Sara pursued a career in healthcare by enrolling in a Nursing Assistant program. She began her professional journey in Anniston before relocating to Dayton, Ohio, in 1969. There, she continued her work at St. Elizabeth Hospital, dedicating herself to caring for others. Driven by her commitment to growth, she earned an Associate Degree in Surgical Technology and went on to serve at the Veterans Administration Hospital, along with several nursing facilities in the Dayton and Miamisburg areas. Her career reflected not only skill, but a genuine calling to serve with compassion and dignity. In 2006, Sara relocated to Duluth, Georgia, where she continued her life of service as an Administrative Assistant at New Life Academy of Excellence School, impacting the lives of students and staff alike with her warmth and dedication. A woman of deep and abiding faith, Sara was a devoted member of New Life Prophetic Outreach Ministries in Duluth, Georgia. She faithfully served in numerous ministries, embodying the principle, “serving God by serving others.” Her love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. She leaned on His promises and carried in her heart the cherished scripture: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6–7 Affectionately known as “Mother Sara,” she was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and nurturing love. Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and encouraging words touched countless lives. Whether through a comforting meal, a listening ear, or a heartfelt prayer, she made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. In 1972, Sara was united in marriage to Andy Edmondson. Through this union, she embraced her role as a devoted wife and supportive stepmother, helping to raise his children with patience, care, and unconditional love. Sara was a proud and loving mother to her children and stepchildren: Karen Regina Wright, James Anthony Wright, Jerome Wright, David Wright, and Marcus Wright. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured into them a legacy of love, strength, and faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James and Annie Laura Howell; her beloved husband, Andy Edmondson; her siblings, Edward Simon Howell, Johnnie Howell, Sr., and Deborah Howell; and her sons and stepchild, James Anthony Wright Sr., Marcus Wright Sr., and Donald Edmondson. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through those who loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children, Karen Regina Wright, Jerome Wright, and David Wright; her loving sisters, Dr. Gloria Jane Foward, Mary Lee Watts, Edna Lorraine Wilson, Joann Cox (Ricky Cox), and Marcia Yvonne Jackson; her cherished grandchildren, Jasman Sneed, Jamica Wright, James Wright Jr., Deonte Smith, Ramia Wright, David Wright Jr., Hayden Wright, Joi Wright, Marcus Wright Jr., Alexis Wright, Toshiana Matthews, LaRone Taste, Demarco Wright, MyLaia Matthews, Mya Matthews, Shawn McNary, Immanuel Wright, and Steffren Wright; her special friend, Ms. Deneen Dyes; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Sara’s life was a reflection of grace, faith, and selfless love. Though she has taken her rest, the impact of her life will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
