Ruby Nell Glover Lester

Ruby Nell Glover Lester, age 82 of Stone Mountain, GA entered eternal life on Sunday May 21, 2017. She was born in Pine View, Georgia to the late Ernest and Josephine Johnson Glover and raised in Tampa, Florida. She spent a portion of her life in West Palm Beach, Florida. After marriage to Buford Lucas Lester, she moved to Paterson New Jersey and raised 11 children. Ruby, was a long time, faithful, devoted member of The Church of the Holy Communion in Paterson, New Jersey. She also raised her children in the church as well as some of her grandchildren. She was a praying Mother and always prayed for all of her children. Her final residence was in Stone Mountain, Georgia with her son Carlos Lester. When her youngest child Robert, started pre-school, she decided to go back to school and attended the Information Systems Institute where she received her certificate for Data Entry Operator. She began working at Paid Prescriptions 1973 and remained there until she retired on October 30, 1997. As her children grew up, Ruby was known for her famous fried chicken, dressing, and a glass of Kool-Aid. As she grew older she began to realize the importance of eating healthy. She was an avid reader of healthy living books and nutrition. She also enjoyed reading her Bible. Ruby was preceded in death by her three brothers Eddie, Ernest, and Willie James Glover also her husband Lucas Lester (April 1982) and her beautiful Granddaughter, Geonitra (Nitra) Gage-Dundar (September 3, 2005). Ruby loved all of her children and dedicated her life to raising them. She also assisted in raising several of her grandchildren and was always considered a “second mother” to her grandchildren who she always supported in all of their education, endeavors, goals, and upbringing. As a young girl, she played the piano in church. She also enjoyed singing. Ruby always had a beautiful voice and up until the time she went home to be with the Lord, she continued to sing and share her beautiful gift of song with us all. She always believed in living for the Lord. She leaves to cherish in loving memories - 4 daughters: Phyllis Gage of Crestview, Florida; Edith/Tony Mosley of Stone Mountain, GA, Mary/Vaughn Vickers Sr. of Atlanta, GA, and Sharon/Donald Moss of Stone Mountain, GA and 7 sons: Larry Lester of Piscattaway; NJ, Doby Lester of Miami, FL; Eddie/Sharon Lester of Tobyhanna, PA; Wayne Lester of Norcross, GA; Charlton Lester of Stone Mountain, GA; Donnell/Belkis Carson of Miami, FL; Roberto/Camille Lester of Lawrenceville, GA; 23 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Before her illness she loved going out to eat with her two friends Evelyn Mosley and Rita Walker (deceased). Ruby, Evelyn, and Rita AKA, “The Golden Girls” were a force to be reckoned with. All were without doubt Children of God. Ruby overcame the odds and every devil and negative force put before her. She has made a positive and unforgettable impact in all our lives in one way or another. She will be missed by all and her memory will always live in our hearts.
