Mr. Roosevelt Wise, 83, of Atlanta, GA, husband to the late Louise Davenport Wise passed Saturday April 23, 2016. His celebration of life service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Gregory B. Levett and Sons South DeKalb Chapel. Interment at Kennedy Memorial Gardens. 2500 River Road. Ellenwood, GA. Viewing Friday, April 29, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral Home. South DeKalb Chapel. 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway. Decatur, GA. 30034. 404-241-5656. Roosevelt Wise was born March 4, 1933 in Oglethorpe County, Ga in the City of Point Peter to the late Dorothy Wise Waller (Johnny Waller) and the late Walter “Buster” Thomas, Sr. He Was called home on April 23, 2016. He was preceded in death by three siblings Janera Nelson, Erbityne Simmons and Esa Thomas. Roosevelt Accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Fort Bethel Baptist Church in Oglethorpe County. He was a devoted member. In 1959, he moved to Atlanta, GA In 1960, he was united in holy matrimony to Louise Davenport who preceded him in death. To this union they were blessed with seven loving children, one which precede him in death; Brian Keith Wise. Roosevelt worked for Emory University for over 40 years, until he retired due to health reasons. During his love of life, and dedication to his family and extended family, Roosevelt passed away peacefully on April 23, 2016. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories six daughters; Yvonne Davenport of Ellenwood, Ga, Jacqueline Wise, Pauline Wise, Sabrina Waters (James), Kimberly Wise, and Sophia Wise of Atlanta, GA. Three grandchildren, Bryant Wise, Milton Tenn, Xavier Wise (Shavonda) of Atlanta, Ga., Krystal Hill of Douglasville, Ga. Six great-grandchildren, seven sisters, Thelma Hitchcock of Athens, Ga, Joyce Ann Porter of Crawford, Ga, Eunice Williams of Lexington, Ga, Johnnie Lou Bolton of Lawrencville, Ga, Agnes Robinson (James) of Dalton, Illinois, Clara McCombs and Montyne Simmons of Nicholson, Ga. Four brothers, Kenly Waller (Myra) of Stone Mountain, Ga, LaSalle Thomas (Bertha) of Carlton, Ga, Walter Thomas and Douglas Thomas of Chicago, Illinois. Four sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Bolton (Lint) of Decatur, Ga, Ernestine Shelton of Decatur, Ga, Virginia Davenport of Decatur, Ga, Kay Cole of Atlanta, Ga. One Aunt, Susie Haynie of Carlton, Ga., a group of special friends from Emory University Physical Plants, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
