Ronke Odukoya

Ibironke Adeola Odukoya turned sixty-eight and left this mundane world quietly on a Christmas day. She was born on December 6, 1954, to very industrious parents, Pa Charles Abolaji and Adebimpe Odukoya in Lagos, Nigeria. Born into a prestigious royal chieftaincy family of Ade Odukoya, Olumodi Ana koru, Bale in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. She was the 2nd of 8 Children and could be described as amazingly beautiful both inside and outside, charmingly adorable, incredibly nice, and generous to a fault. She was a woman of faith who loved God and people. She started her early childhood education at Ade Oshodi Baptist Primary School in Lagos and completed her secondary school with impressive results at Muslim College Shagamu, Ogun State. Her passion for education drove her to relocate to New York City in 1982, where she pursued and continued a higher certification. She received her first degree with distinction in international studies at NY Institute of Technology Manhattan, New York. Many people will remember her openness to orientation and accommodation when they were relocated from Nigeria to the U.S.A. In 1985, after 3 years in the states, she felt the need to return to Nigeria and help others in the labor force. Following her dreams with determination to see a change in the labor industry, she started working at the ministry of establishment, Lagos. Being that Ibironke was a very hard-working person, It didn’t take her long before she got promoted and became the director of international affairs. It was while in this position, she became ill and remained so for a while. Later on, in life looking for better medical attention and care, she returned back to the states, to Georgia U.S. where she lived and stayed close with her siblings, nephews, nieces, and loving friends. Ronke carried herself with poise and positivity. Her smile was contagious and would leave a lasting impression on you. She was an avid reader and especially loved reading comic books. She also enjoyed watching sports and listening to the late Howard Cosset, her favorite sports commentator, and the late Andy Rooney, the host of 60 minutes. She kept up with soap operas especially General Hospital, Dynasty, and Dallas. Those were her favorites. Remarkably, Lord Jesus Christ loves her so much that she was called to her heavenly home to be with her parents on Christmas Day. She is survived by her siblings, nephews, nieces, their children, and loving friends. We are grateful to God for her life and she will be missed dearly. Services entrusted to Gregory B.
