Robert Derrick Hogan

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Derrick Hogan, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Born on March 1, 1951, in Newark, New Jersey, Derrick touched countless lives with his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. Derrick is survived by his former wife Maureen Hogan and their three children, Adam, Alex, and Amber and his cherished grandchildren Arriyana, Aya, Aubrey, Miles, and Abigail, along with his great-grandson, Xavier. They will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. He was the eldest of seven to the late Ursulia Hogan and Frederick Hogan and his siblings—Telia, the late Dona, Fredricka, Lavette, Randall, and Wayne—will always treasure the wisdom, love, and guidance he shared with them. Derrick was more than just a father to his own children; he became a father figure to many of his childrens’ friends, extending his warmth, guidance, and knowledge to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. His passion for learning and sharing never waned, and he had a rare gift for uplifting those around him. His thoughtful words and wise counsel left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path. After working for Bell Atlantic for 17 years in various roles, including Switch Technician and Lineman, Derrick’s thirst for knowledge led him to earn a Bachelor of Science from St. Peter’s College in just three years, all while balancing his career and family life. In 1989, Derrick and his family moved to Austell, Georgia, where his commitment to community deepened. He served as Vice Mayor of Clarkston, passionately dedicating his efforts to improving the lives of others and ensuring the well-being of his community. Derrick’s love for his family was boundless, and his legacy of kindness, wisdom, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His laughter, warmth, and strength were a source of light, and he will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that Derrick’s memory be honored by continuing his tradition of kindness and service to others. Although he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. Robert Derrick Hogan will never be forgotten. Final services entrusted to Gregory B.
