Robert Dixon, Jr.

His Beginning Mr. Robert Dixon Jr., affectionately known as “Richard,” was born on February 1, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Robert Dixon Sr. and Rosa Lee Dixon. He received his education at Booker T. Washington High School, graduating with the Class of 1965. Richard dedicated over 30 years of service to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. In addition to his career, he was a successful business owner. Richard’s warm personality and radiant smile could light up any room, and he found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. His Love On December 19, 1970, Richard united in marriage with the love of his life, Carol Dixon. They were blessed with two sons, Scott and Dennis. Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend whose love and dedication to the Lord and his family were unwavering. His Leisure Beyond his family life, Richard was deeply involved in his community. He enjoyed coaching youth basketball and was a passionate supporter of his hometown sports teams, always cheering on the Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Falcons. He really liked westerns. He loved music and especially cherished the sounds of Philadelphia Soul. On October 9, 2025, Richard peacefully departed this life surrounded by his loved ones. Though his passing leaves a deep void, his life and legacy will forever be treasured in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Dixon Sr. and Rosa Lee Dixon. He leaves to cherish his everlasting memory: his devoted wife of 55 years, Carol Dixon; two beloved sons, Scott (Martina) Dixon and Dennis (Sheila) Dixon; five cherished grandchildren, Cassidy, Alec, Miles, Sydney, and Ian; two nephews with whom he shared a special bond, Quinton Saxby and Clarence “Frankie” Saxby; cousins Jackie Missouri, Charles Dixon, and Dell Dixon; a special friend, Carl Butler; sisters- and brothers-in-law Gloria (Edward) Clark, Joseph (Helena) Saxby, Irene (Michael) Marshall, Tyrisha (Rodney) Kelly, Priscilla (Tim) Hamilton, Aaron (Stella) Saxby, Jessie Saxby, and Redelma Saxby; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and dear friends. Richard’s life was one of love, laughter, and legacy. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Final services entrusted to Gregory B.
