Mr. Raymond Saylor

Rayvon “Raymond” Saylor, passed away peacefully on July 11,2025, surrounded by the love of his family—a fitting farewell for a man whose heart was always fullest when he was with them. A devoted husband, father, grandfather/great-grandfather, veteran, and friend, Ray lived a life full of love, laughter, and service. He was born on May 14, 1948, to the late Willie Lee and Esten Saylor. Ray’s upbringing in Albany, Georgia, shaped his deep appreciation for family, tradition, and resilience. He is survived by his loving sister, Annie Mae Drayton, and brothers, Ira Jackson, Sr., (Eunice) and Issac Jackson (Mildred). He was preceded in death by several siblings, Ernest, John Oliver, Robert, Larry, Rose, and Teresa. Ray served his country honorably as a U. S. Air Force veteran and later dedicated many years to protecting his community as an Emory University police officer, but his most important role, the one he cherished above all, was being a family man. Ray shared a long and loving marriage with his wife, Ellen Saylor. Together, they raised three children, Felix (Betty) Saylor, Patricia (Devin) Brooks, and Rodney Saylor, and created a home filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. He was a devoted grandfather to Felix Jr., Dasia, Angel, Tatyana, Sienna, Imani, Felis, Felicia, and Fenix, and a great-grandfather to Jamoni and Alora—all of whom he bragged about any chance he got. He found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures: fishing, listening to music, spending time outdoors, and being surrounded by his family and friends. He was passionate about African-American history and culture, and he enjoyed watching classic cowboy movies and rooting for his favorite team, the Atlanta Falcons. Ray will be remembered as a man of strong values, quiet strength, and deep love. He was the foundation of his family—steadfast, wise, and always present. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched, and the love he gave so freely will continue to guide and inspire those who knew him. Ray lived his life with purpose and heart. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. The Celebration of Life Service for Raymond Saylor will be held on Monday, July ,21 2025 at 11:00 AM. This service will be recorded and streamed live.
