In Loving Memory of Raphael Barber March 21, 1966 – June 16, 2026 Raphael Barber, age 60, of Atlanta, Georgia, was born to the late Robert Lee Barber and Evelyn Barber. He graduated with the highest honors to be with the Lord and family in Heaven. He was the oldest of four children. Raphael departed this life shortly after doing something he held with quiet pride—casting his vote. In that final act, he once again showed the kind of man he was: thoughtful about his community, mindful of his voice, and committed to doing his part even in the smallest ways. It is a tender comfort to his loved ones that his last moments included fulfilling a civic duty he respected. Raphael attended Murphy High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Following his education, he began working alongside his father at Barber Dump Trucking Company in Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked as a dedicated CDL driver. He later married LaShondra Cotton (Thomas), and together they were blessed with two sons, Corey Barber and Jeremy Barber, whom they co-parented together. Raphael was a loving and proud father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his devoted mother, Evelyn Barber; his two sisters, Silvia and Robbin; and his brother, Gregory Barber. He also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Pierce, Kymile, Rylee, Eli, Kaiden, Jerni, and Jakobi Barber. He was a beloved uncle to Chase and Karmen, and is also remembered by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Raphael enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved driving dump trucks and tractor-trailers, attending drag racing events, and visiting antique car shows. These passions reflected his hardworking spirit and love for engines, speed, and classic craftsmanship. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, 11 AM at Poplar Spring Baptist Church 3796 River Road, Ellenwood, GA 30294. Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Ulysses Ponder, Eulogist.
