Ponthetta V. Raymond

Ponthetta Veronecia Angia Ruth Scott was born to the Late Sanders and Martha Scott on April 19,1948. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Early in life, she received her education in Charleston, South Carolina which laid the foundation for her many accomplishments. Ponthetta was a Master of the Culinary arts, skillfully preparing food with passion and dedication! She worked for many years at The Rice Paddy Restaurant and also served as the head cook at Venture Plantation. In addition to her culinary career, she was the proud owner of "The Other Place," a beloved local lounge in Trio, South Carolina. She also owned and operated an ABC store. Ponthetta made a lasting impact on the community. Ponthetta had a deep love for gardening, decorating, music, entertaining, and landscaping! Above all, she cherished her role as a Mother, Grandmother and a Sister offering wisdom, love, laughter and guidance to all who knew her. Her beauty was mesmerizing and she never knew a stranger. Ponthetta’s voice and speech was One-of-A Kind. She was affectionately known by many names, including "Punchi," "Pont," "Poinsettia," "Ponchanetta," and "Ms. P." She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved pets: Lady, Tramp, Mercy, and Blessing, who brought her much joy. Ponthetta was the life of the party and the life of the church. Ponthetta accepted Christ into her life at Greater St. James Holiness Church of Trio, South Carolina. She was ordained as a Minster, licensed to preach on July 22, 2007. One of Ponthetta favorite quotes ”When I was in the world I was the best at everything I did and now that I’m in the church I’m giving GOD MY BEST! Ponthetta will forever live on in all who loved and knew her! She was preceded in death by her parents, Sanders and Martha Scott. Sister, RosaLee Williams, two grandchildren, Terrell Raymond and Scwantamesha Livingston. She is survived by her children: Kelvin Scott, Shawn (Shaunette) Raymond and Kenyatta Raymond all of South Carolina. O'shea Raymond and Demetrius Scott both of Georgia. Iwan Maya of North Carolina. Brothers: Joseph (Coretta) Scott of South Carolina, Samuel (Diane) Scott of Florida, and Emanuel Scott of Georgia. Grandsons: Kelvin, Trevor, Alex, Frederick, Deneiro, Tymarchio, Tykari, Andre, Caleph, Shawn Jr., Rometreius and Omokaro. Granddaughters: Kayla, Kiosha, Alexis, Sheontra, Cherisse, Erica, Je’dae, Tyesha, De’Shaunna, Leshae, Johnalon, Shania, Imani, Okeme and Emausay. 27 Great-Grandchildren, a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and many other family members and friends.
