Phyllis Forde

Phyllis Gwendolyn Forde ne: McClean age 88, of Lawrenceville GA, made her transition @ 9:24 AM. Monday, November 28, 2022, at the Northside Gwinnett Medical Center. She was born June 18, 1934, in St John Barbados to Perciful Weekes and Lillian McClean. She lived with her aunt Ethel McClean for much of her early years, Phyllis was the oldest of 5 siblings. Scofield McClean and Cynthia Blackman of London England. Elaine Young and Vincent McClean preceded her in death. She married and was predeceased by Benjamin Forde. This union produced four daughters, Jeanese Saint-Amand, Moreen Forde, Sandra Forde-Kellman (dec’d), and Angela Forde-Machado(dec’d). She is survived by her four grandchildren Patrick Ngako, Sean Weekes, Latoya Kellman, and Stephanie Weekes along with four great-grandchildren. She leaves to mourn nieces and nephews. Son In-Laws Michael Weekes and Leo Machado. She was a friend to the Alleyne, Cordington, Hurdle and Weekes families. Phyllis made friends with her doctors, nurses, and various health care workers during her visits to medical facilities in New York and later Lawrenceville GA. Phyllis was an industrious young woman. She took pride in relating how she worked to provide for the building of the family residence in St George Barbados. Phyllis migrated to the United States of America in 1970, taking up residence in Brooklyn NY. Phyllis’ goal was to make a better life for herself and her family. After initially working as a domestic, she worked to gain certification to work as a Nurse’s Aide. She worked and provided care to many in a number of New York City area hospitals. Phyllis would work nights and still summoned the energy to babysit her precious grandchildren during the day. She was a caring, generous and resilient individual. She relocated to Lawrenceville GA in 2005 with Moreen and her family where she lived until she went to be with her Lord. Celebration of Life Services for Phyllis Forde will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM. These services will be recorded and streamed live.
