Paulette Ray Barnes

Paulette Ray Barnes was born August 22, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois to her late beloved parents Willie and Pauline Ray. She received her early education from Holmes Elementary & Harlan High with the Chicago Public school system. She continued her high school education in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from David T. Howard High School with the Atlanta Public School System on June 2, 1967. At an early age she accepted the Lord at Liberty Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Dr. Melvin H. Watson. She was a faithful member for over 45 years. She served on the Adult Choir and the Usher Board. With her family surrounding her with love and affection she made her transition to be with the Lord on October 27, 2014. She returned back to school and received her A.S. in Criminal Justice, B.S. in Human Services, B.A. in Sociology, and Masters in Teaching. She always shared her love of education with her children, family and friends. As a professional Paulette worked in several positions for Grady Memorial Hospital for over 36 years. She eventually worked as a Social Worker and Patient Counselor for the hospital and spent her life serving the needs of others and the community. Paulette nourished people through her love, faith, and unyielding generosity. She also was a faithful employee for over 25 years with Children s Healthcare of Atlanta. Affectionately known as Polly Bell to friends and family alike. Some even called her Polly Bell Barnyard . She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her loving daughters Felicia Barnes Williams (Orenthial) and Tracey L. Barnes. Her siblings: sister Juanita Coleman (Roderick) and brothers Michael and Sheldon Ray. Her loving grandchildren: Brandon Barnes, Alicia Williams and Jamal Williams, and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. (2 Corinthians 5:8-9). Funeral Services for Ms. Barnes will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Liberty Baptist Church, 395 Chamberlain St. S.E, Atlanta, GA 30312. Reverend Kewon M. Foster, Sr., Senior Pastor. Interment is private. Visitation is 10:00AM-8:00PM Friday, October 31, 2014 at our SOUTH DEKALB Chapel. Family Hour is 6:00PM-8:00PM. Gregory B.
