Mr. Paul Wesley

Paul Lenard Wesley was born June 11, 1950, in Savanah Georgia to Earline Hagood Wesley and Sumpter Wesley. He was raised in a loving family and was the 10th of 11 children, where he learned the importance of faith, hard work, and compassion for others. These early values shaped the man he would become. He received his education in the Chatham County School System. Paul continued his education at Talladega College in Alabama where he received a degree in Economics. Paul met and Married Beverly Johnson, his wife of fifty-two loving years. From this union they received the gift of a son Jonathan. They later moved to Atlanta Georgia where he continued his professional career in facilities management for DeKalb County. Paul was recognized by many of his clients for his impeccable dress. Paul valued professionalism not only in the way he looked but, in the manner, he serviced his stakeholders. At an early age, Paul accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and committed his life to walking in faith and service. His early Christian education began at Townsley Chapel AME Church in Savannah. He later became a faithful member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church where he served diligently for many years. His dedication to the ministry was evident through his service as an Elder, Deacon, and Trustee. In these roles, he faithfully supported the work of the church, offering wisdom, leadership, and encouragement to all. Paul’s dedication was particularly demonstrated in visiting the shut-in to give them Communion and working with the Benevolence Ministry. Elder Wesley. had a deep love for the Word of God and believed strongly in living a life that reflected Christ’s teachings. He was known for his calm spirit, kind heart, and willingness to help anyone in need. His life embodied the scripture: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” — Second Epistle to Timothy 4:7 Paul had many personal, spiritual, and professional accomplishments that demonstrated his commitment, and respect in the community. The following highlights some accomplishments and organizations he was proud to be a member: Bachelor from Talladega College, 1972 Planner with Chatham County Metropolitan Planning Commission Coordinator for Dekalb County Human Services Facilities Inducted into the Woodville Tompkins Athletic Hall of Fame 2014 Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Incorporated Member of the Board of Directors of PeachState Credit Union Paul was a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend. He treasured time with his family and took great joy in seeing them grow and succeed. His guidance, prayers, and loving presence will forever remain in their hearts. He was preceded in death his parents, two sisters Bernice Carter, Jacqueline Adams and two brothers James and Henry. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Beverly, son Jonathan(Jessica), his brothers Sumpter Wesley, Jr., Benjamin Wesley, Sr.(Joan), Leon Wesley (Dorothy); and sisters Lillian Lee(Howard), Sarah Jones, Earline Davis (Rob) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who were enriched by knowing him
