Patrick Nelson

Patrick O Nelson a Civil Engineer and family man was born in Port Antonio, Jamaica. He passed away on March 4, 2023 at 85 after a battle with Parkinson's Disease. He attended Titchfield High School and Cornwall College where he participated in several sports including Football Tennis and Swimming. He joined the Cadet Corp and rose to the height of Sergeant. Patrick was awarded an Engineering Scholarship to Portsmouth Polytechnic College in England. He returned to Jamaica and began working with the National Water Authority which was his way of making a significant contribution to Jamaica's infrastructure through his work. He was given the opportunity to design the Annoto Bay Water Treatment Plant which was a testament to his talent and dedication to his community and profession. He continued to work on Private Projects along with other Engineering Firms including Muir & Ascott and Pearce & Guy, eventually opening his own firm Patrick Nelson Engineering Ltd in 1975. Patrick and his family moved to Orlando, Florida where he worked with Walt Disney World Epcot. His career continued at Bechtel and Perez & Perez with projects like Miami Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. He retired in 2008. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Nelson (nee Miller) Daughter Tracey-Ann (David) Son Kirk (Lisa) 6 Grandchildren Hugh Pringle, Graeme Nelson, Christian Nelson, Arik Duncan, Malia Nelson and Anya Nelson. Sister Sonia Williams (Lascelles) Aunt Zita McDonald, Cousins Nieces and Nephews as well as other family members and friends. His Son Marc (Debbie) predeceased him in 2018, and Brother Maurice (Pam) in 2021.The family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere gratitude to Legacy Ridge and Affinity Hospice Nurses and caregivers for their compassionate care during his final days.
