Olga Viola Goldsmith

Olga Viola Goldsmith, 92, transitioned on August 18th, 2022. Olga Viola Goldsmith [nee Williams] was born in Portland, Jamaica on Monday December 9th, 1929 to the late Shadrock Williams and Adlin Williams. Olga is survived by her brother Milo Williams and children. Children Trevor Clough, Janet Goldsmith, Michael Campbell, Heather Campbell, Noel Campbell, and Donald Campbell. Grandchildren: Althea ‘Opal’ Mitchell, Cornelia ‘Connie’ Clough, O’Neil Clough, Toni Douglas, Robert Ellis, Ayanna Reid, Keisha Gaines, Kaliah Ricketts, Ashley Campbell, Whitley ‘Paige’ Campbell, Diandra White, Dakarai White, Elijah Ellis, Daniel Campbell, Cheyenne Campbell, Dante Campbell, and Caprianne Campbell. Great-Grandchildren: Leathea, Cherece, Shyanne, Avani, Patrick, Amiri, Naya, Sydney, Naomi, and Lorely. She is predeceased by her grandparents Arthur Wiseman and Elizabeth Cargill-Wiseman, sisters Naomi ‘Pet’ and Daphne, brothers Austin and Auston, daughter Shirley Carby, son Calvin Hudson and grandson Christopher Ellis. Olga was affectionately known as ‘Rose,’ she enjoyed singing in her church choir, gardening, reading and studying the Bible, political conversation, and was always looking to learn something new; such as playing the piano and practicing yoga in her later years. Prior to leaving Kingston,JA she worked at Pegasus hotel prior to immigrating to then Paterson, NJ on November 5, 1985. She was committed to her community joining the Saint Paul Episcopal Church and giving her time to the food pantry and juvenile after school mentoring programs, and advocating for at-risk youth. She relocated to Brandywine, MD in 2013 where she joined St. Thomas Church and became part of the Douglas family by way of her grandson Patrick Douglas, Sr. In early 2022 she moved to Suwanee, GA. Every encounter with Ms. Rose was similar as it was enveloped in acceptance and genuine love. She was spicy and fearless, eloquently spoke her mind and encouraged others to always believe in God‘s purpose for your life and to believe in yourself.
