Norman Eugene Branch, Jr.

Norman E. Branch Jr., was born on September 27, 1957, in Albany, GA, to Annette Davis and Norman E. Branch, Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. After graduation from Westover High School in 1975, Norman enlisted in the military (Army) and proudly served his country from 1976 to 1982. He spent most of his service career in Germany and was later stationed at the former Fort McPherson, now home of Tyler Perry Studios. Norman was the cornerstone for family, a steady presence in a changing world, and a friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. As a Husband, he was a true partner married for 39 years, a confidant, and the anchor in a beautiful life built on shared dreams, mutual respect, and enduring love. The bond he shared with his wife was a testament to commitment, a partnership that weathered every season of life with grace and unity. As a Father, he was a source of unwavering strength and gentle guidance. He led by example, instilling values, not with grand speeches, but with daily actions of integrity, hard work, and unconditional love. He loved being a Girl Dad, spending time on the Softball field with Maya, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He taught her to be savvy about financial matters starting at an early age. Norman was a history buff who loved to read. He instilled the love of reading in Maya. He wanted her to always be respectful of others and demands the same for herself. He referred to his family as “Branch: Party of 3.” He was a provider, a protector, and his daughter’s greatest supporter. He leaves behind a legacy of character that will continue to guide her. As a Brother, he was a lifelong friend, a keeper of shared memories from childhood, and a voice of reason. The bond of brotherhood is unique, and Norman cherished it, always there with a listening ear or a helping hand. As an Uncle and Cousin, he was the man who brought warmth and laughter to family gatherings. He was the one you looked up to, the one you could count on for sound advice. And as a Friend, Norman was loyal, genuine, and true. He was the friend who showed up, who listened without judgment, and whose dependability was a source of comfort for so many. Norman Branch was a man of substance. He built a life not of fleeting things but of lasting relationships. The love he gave so freely is the inheritance he leaves for all of us. Norman will be missed by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Maya; three brothers, Alexander (Teresa) of Georgia, Marlan (Katrina) of Maryland, and Anthony of Georgia; two sisters, Towonia Jackson (Russell) of New Jersey and Vickie Leonard of North Carolina, who preceded him in death; two nieces, Brianna (Anthony) of New Jersey and Olyvia of Georgia; three nephews, Micquan of Maryland, Sean of Colorado, and Anthony (AJ) of Georgia; one great-niece, Karis; and two great-nephews, Aiden and Logan.
