Neavader Price

Neavader Price, affectionately known as “Tookie,” was born on December 28, 1962, in Atmore, Alabama, to the late Frances DeLois Taylor and Walter Lee McCracken. Later, her stepfather, the late Robert Lee Evans, and her stepmother, the late Mattie Louise McCracken (better known as Madea), assisted with raising and caring for her as a child. Neavader worked in various professions throughout her life. From barbering and beautician work to assembling electrical equipment at Lithonia Lighting, and caring for children in daycare, she touched lives through her dedication, skill, and kindness. Her passion for children was unmatched, and she had a special way of making each one feel valued and loved. As a young adult, Neavader moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she met and married the love of her life, Prentice Price. Together, they built a loving home and raised two beautiful daughters, Candice and Princeanna. For 35 years, Neavader and Prentice shared a marriage rooted in love and commitment, facing life’s joys and challenges side by side. Neavader, a woman of great joy and warmth always stayed true to herself. Her humility drew others to her, and she was known for her laughter, dancing, and down-to-earth nature. She never met a stranger, and her open heart and open mind made her a friend to all. Whether traveling, enjoying the beach, reading, watching movies, or spending quality time with her family, Neavader had a thirst for learning and living life to the fullest. For 10 years, Neavader fought a courageous battle with breast cancer. Through it all, she continued to face life with strength, positivity, and humor, never allowing her illness to define her. Her unwavering faith in God, her family, and her community sustained her and carried her through the toughest of times. She will be remembered as a warrior who fought with unshakable resolve until the very end. She peacefully passed in the comfort of her home with her husband by her side on November 20, 2024, at the age of 61. Neavader is survived by her husband of thirty-five years, Prentice Price, her daughters Candice Price and Princeanna Price, and a host of siblings: Arthur Lee Taylor (Harriet), Carla Price, Celia Ann Betts (Anthony), Christine McCracken, Fannie Mae Tarver, James McCracken (Terease), Joann McCracken, Michael Price, Robert M., Valerie McBride (Bernard), and Walter Lee McCracken Jr. (Vernametres). She also leaves behind many brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, her beloved grand-pup Tyson, and a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss her lively and sweet spirit. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM at New Bethel AME Church 8350 Rockbridge Rd, Lithonia, GA 30058. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gregory B.
