Mr. Nathaniel Darden

Nathaniel Darden was born October 8, 1949 in Lanett, Alabama to Arthur L. Darden and Josephine Patterson who preceded him in death. Nathaniel was later married to Cora Theresa Darden who also proceeds him in death. Moreover, he is preceded in death by his to two sisters Lois Darden and Robin (Darden) Favors, two Aunts May BelleHargettand Sarah Darden and one cousin Mary (Cookie) McLemore. Nathaniel and Theresa married April 25, 1969 in Atlanta, GA where they later bought a home in Dekalb County where they raised their two children “Shell” and “Metris”. Nathaniel was a giving man, he worked hard to provide and protect his family. He worked at Float Away Door Co. 20 years and later went to work at Desoto Doorway Co. for 10 years. Lastly, he retired from Schwanns Bakery after working for 17 years. Nathaniel was a member at Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church where he gave his life to Christ. He enjoyed fishing and planting flowers in his free time. He also took pride in maintaining his grass. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his son Metris and visiting his West Point family when he could. Nathaniel leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter Naeresa M. (Broderick) Smith, one son Demetrius Darden, two granddaughters Candrea N. Strickland and Sanqweda Smith, two great-grandchildren Chelsea Durden and one to be born October 2018. Nathaniel also leaves behind four siblings Clarence Darden, Arthur Darden, Ivan Kelley, and Vicky Darden. A very special companion Patricia Henderson and four very close cousins Edna Mae (Darden) Connally, Carolyn (Richard) Pittman, Barbara Griffin, George (Sonny) Morgan and host of other cousins, nieces and nephews. Finally, two special buddies Big Mike and Lil Mike. Memorial Services for Mr. Darden will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Gregory B.
