Nancy Martin

Nancy D. Hayward was born to Albert Hayward and Jeanette Hayward on November 12, 1932. She was an only child. Nancy lived in Louisiana at a young age until relocating to New Jersey. She moved to Brooklyn, NY, and graduated from Girls High School in 1951. Upon graduation, she attended a two-year business school. After receiving her certification, she worked as an executive secretary. She met the love of her life, Everett Martin, during that period. From the union, eight children were born. Nancy and Everett moved to New Jersey in 1963. Nancy was loved and respected by all who knew her. She worked for the Paterson School System as a crossing guard. Additionally, she served as PTA president for Public School 21 in Paterson, NJ, for many years. Nancy also worked in various schools as a food service employee within the Paterson school system, in addition to various daycare centers and North Jersey Training Schools. They relocated to Florida in 1990, where she could continue working as a food service employee in the Florida school system. Nancy loved to do crossword puzzles and crafts. In 1994, her beloved husband, Everett, passed away, and she relocated back to New Jersey. Upon returning, she continued her membership at Canaan Baptist Church. She was a caregiver for her mother until her transition in 2001. After her mother's transition, she retired to Georgia to be close to her children. Nancy was very active in her senior living community in Decatur, GA. She was predeceased by parents Albert and Jeannette Hayward, Everett Martin Sr. (husband), and Uncles: Sylvester and Bennie Foster. Aunts: Mildred Foster, Beatrice Brown and Beatrice Foster, Vivian Jones (mother-in-law), Bryan T. Mills (grandson), Cheryl Martin (daughter-in-law). Sisters-in-law: Thelma Mallard and Joyce Alexander. Brother-in-laws: David Wildy, Martin Best, Franklin Jones, James Alexander.
