Mikah Louis King

Mikah Louis King cast a warm, bold and beautiful light upon everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. He loved to make people laugh and smile–even as a young child. Mikah was a playful and energetic little boy who–by the tender age of eight–had already become a loveable prankster who amused friends, classmates, teachers and loved ones with jokes and funny antics. Born on March 29, 2010–just five minutes after his twin brother–Mehki, Mikah was an affectionate “little brother” who would tease and innocently play tricks on Mehki. Even though he was the smaller twin in their early years, Mikah would fiercely stand up against anyone who messed with his “big brother.” Mikah was also an amazing son who loved to make his father proud and cherished every opportunity to dote over his mother–even waiting up for her when she was late getting home from work. Family meant everything to Mikah, and he went out of his way to make sure they felt the love and joy he had in his heart for them. Mikah was also a loyal friend known for making young people and teammates feel supported, cared for and valued. He was courageous enough to speak up for those in need of help and savvy enough to correct those who needed gentle redirection, candid advice or just a bit of encouragement. Friends respected Mikah’s leadership, his sense of humor and his loyalty. They also respected his youthful entrepreneurial spirit and–in middle school–lined up to buy the cookies, candy and chips he sold with a smile from his backpack. Mikah left quite an impression on his teachers and classmates at DeKalb Academy of Technology & Environment–where he attended elementary and middle school. He was recently hired by DATE to help teachers get ready for the 2025-2026 school year. He was so passionate about his agricultural studies that helped rebuild and maintain DATE’s farming and aquaponics ecosystems. He had already finished his agricultural requirements for his Sophomore year and earned an A in his Summer chemistry class just to ensure his academic success. Beyond family and friends, there was nothing Mikah loved more than sports. He started at DATE in track as a sprinter, then excelled in shotput and discus. He broke records in discus in eighth grade and went on to become a state champion in both events. He became a National Indoor Champion for discus and competed in the Junior Olympics in Iowa, Texas and North Carolina. Mikah was an elite athlete who had earned a spot to compete in Savannah in the upcoming track season. He also enjoyed wrestling and won the District Championship in middle school at DATE. In seventh and eighth grade, he started playing 2 / 2 football and was eager to put on pads and join the Arabia Mountain Football Team as an Offensive Guard and Defensive Tackle as a Freshman and in his upcoming Sophomore year. Mikah was a true scholar and athlete who left an indelible mark on and off the field. He joined our Heavenly Father on July 23, at the age of 15 and left all of us with fond and wonderful memories of the big guy with an even bigger heart. He is survived by his brother Mehki David, parents Dwanye Andrew and Derenthia Uneice King, maternal grandparents Louis and Shirley Baker, Uncle Tyrone Robinson, first cousins Tyla Robinson and Tyrone Robinson, Jr. and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and teammates who will hold onto the memories of Mikah for a lifetime as his warm, bold and beautiful light continues to shine. The Celebration of Life Service for Mikah Louis Kingd will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11am. This service will be recorded and streamed live.
