Mr. Melvin D. Shepherd, 70, of Conyers, Ga. passed on May 24, 2022. Obituary Melvin Douglas Shepherd was born on February 6, 1952, in Robertson County, Texas, to Marshall Douglas Shepherd and Rosie Lee Johnson Shepherd. He attended schools in Franklin County until the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he graduated from Dunbar High School in 1970. After graduation, Melvin entered the military, serving in the United States Army until his retirement after twenty-nine years of service. It is there he met and married LaBrenda in 1979. To that union was born a beloved son, Shandon Shepherd. Melvin had a multitude of talents and achievements. One of his greatest talents was working on cars and trucks. He was also a truly good mentor to his friends and family. In his military lifetime, he enlisted as a Private and retired as a First Sergeant. He enjoyed his military service; his soldiers respected him as well as his leadership. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Douglas Shepherd and Rosie Lee Johnson Shepherd; son, Shandon Shepherd; daughter, Yolanda Shepherd; brothers, Wayne and Charles Shepherd; and sister, Rubye Shepherd Phifer. He leaves behind: his wife, LaBrenda; son, Gary Shepherd of Georgia; granddaughter, Ebony; great-grandchildren, Kingston and Emma, both of Texas; sisters, Faye, Dorothy, Debra, Wanda, and Regina, all of Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, former coworkers, and friends. Melvin Shepherd's service will be recorded and streamed live.
