Mary Kelly Weaver

Mary Kelly Weaver was born on March 25, 1932, to the late Lillian Inez Kelly and late Jewel Henry Kelly during The Great Depression. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia at Grady Hospital and grew up in Rome Georgia. Mary accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior on June 15, 1941. She married Rev. Dewey W. Weaver, Jr., on June 15, 1959, at Grace Bible Church in Rome and was married for 28 years before being widowed on May 12, 1987. She birthed two children, Joy Estes, married to Rev. Doug Estes, and David Weaver, married to Jennifer Weaver. She was “Mamaw” to six grandchildren, Charity D. Estes, Joshua D. Estes, Rebecca Weaver, Elizabeth Weaver, Aaron Weaver, and the late Emily Elizabeth Weaver. She has two brothers, James Kelly, married to Frances Kelly, and the late David Kelly, and 6 grandchildren. She also is survived by three nieces. Mary graduated from McHenry-Rome High School and attended Toccoa Falls College and Tennessee Temple University. Mary loved children! She became a kindergarten teacher, taught Sunday School, backyard Bible clubs, and AWANA’s. She loved reading her Bible and health books, was talented in writing a poem and a song, grew vegetables and fruit trees, and enjoyed hunting pecans and sea shells. Mary loved God and His Word, as well as telling others about the Good News of Jesus Christ. Her favorite passages include: Psalm 1, 91, 103, and Hebrews 11. She loved her family and was a faithful pastor's wife and mother. Letter To Mom You are the best mother God could have ever given us. You were always a great listener no matter what time or day we needed to talk to you. Your greatest joy was being around children. You loved us and your grandchildren, and were always ready to help. You loved serving us, and your family was your top priority after God. What a virtuous lady you were! You prayed for us daily, and God protected and blessed us because of your prayers. We observed your helpful, servant spirit and noticed you being kind to people who needed encouragement even when you were in the hospital and nursing home. You said, “Thank you,” to them even when you could barely speak. Your sense of humor stayed with you and made us laugh. You were stubborn in a beautiful way because it made you strong enough to stand up against evil and made you tough enough to live by your convictions. Passing on convictions like no alcohol, or drugs, and purity in marriage influenced us and gave us strength to make them our convictions through your godly influence and God’s grace. We remember seeing you read your Bible and marking it up. You lived what you taught us and influenced many other children through the years besides your own children. Not only do we have physical life because of you, but because of you and Dad loving Jesus and living out a Christian example the best you could, we came to know Jesus Christ personally early in life, and He changed our lives too. We know that your burning desire was that all your family and friends would know Jesus like we do. Your prayer would be that those who are not God’s children, who have never had a life change, will ask Him to save them from their sins today. You loved telling people about Jesus, and God used you as the best missionary by being our mother. You have not only been our mother, but our best friend growing up. We are delighted that you are truly healed now and are experiencing the eternal bliss of being with our Savior. We miss you so much, but look forward to seeing you in heaven someday.
