Mrs. Mary Frances Cox, 78 of Decatur, GA passed Sunday, December 27, 2020. Mary Frances Cox was born on December 7, 1942 in Phenix City, Alabama. She was the daughter of Eddie and Katie Mae Thomas. On Sunday, December 27, 2020, God dispatched an angel to reclaim one of His children. Mary Frances, better known as May Frances was a Cosmetologist and Makeup artist for over 35 years. She was the first Black Beauty Consultant at Matthew’s on Broad Street in Columbus, Georgia. She was also awarded best dressed of Columbus several times. She was a walking Billboard of beauty inside and out. She later retired from Fashion Fair Cosmetics and spent her retirement being a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mary Frances confessed her life to Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Gresham. She was a member of the choir, and helped in any capacity she could. She also cherished and held great love for her home church Franchise Missionary Baptist Church in Phenix City, Alabama. Mary Frances was preceded in death by her father and mother Eddie and Katie Mae Thomas and her husband Billy Joe Cox. Mary Frances leaves to cherish her memories; a daughter Lequita (Alvin Duncan, one son, Ty (Shonda) Jones, step daughter, Yvonne McGibiany; Seven grandchildren, Briana, Tevin, Alvin Jr., Justin, Madison, Antwene, Kayla; Three great grandchildren, Braxton, Daveon, Deonte Jr., one brother, Edward (Vivian) Thomas, Three sisters Ronella (James) Mitchener, Carolyn (Harry) Hughes, Pamela Thomas and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and dear friends. Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Cox will be held at 10:30AM Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home. Attendance is by INVITATION only. The Service will be Live Streamed. Due to the COVID-19, a mask is required to enter the Chapel. Burial will take place at 1:30 at Georgia National Cemetery 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr., Canton, GA 30114.
