Marjorie Pamela Mitchell-Douglas

Marjorie Pamela Mitchell-Douglas, was generous, humble, gracious, and kind. She was a devout Christian, a genuine child of God, and a devoted wife. She was born on June 29, 1955 in Jamaica, West Indies, Clarendon parish to parents, Maisie and Livingston Mitchell. She was their first born. She was raised in a loving Christian home where hard work and education was important. Marjorie received her early education at Zorn Moravian School in Christiana, Jamaica and also attended Knox College High School in Spalding. After emigrating to the United States with her family, she finished her high school at Evander Childs. She continued her education at Lehman College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After graduation, she became a teacher and taught students in the Public School System of New York City. In 1980 Marjorie married the love of her life, Milton Douglas. They settled down in New Jersey and she pursued further education at Fairleigh Dickinson University, completing the Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry Degree. She provided the gift of Dentistry to the community of South Orange, New Jersey for the past 32 years. Marjorie was a dedicated member and served God at Maplewood Bible Chapel (25 years) and First Presbyterian Church of Williamsbridge, New York (she participated in the Youth Group.) A woman born with a servant's heart, Marjorie sought to bring joy and spread love especially to those who needed it most. Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital was her favorite charity. Marjorie enjoyed traveling, and traveled quite often. During her youth she explored through Europe with friends. She was an accomplished seamstress. Helping her mother making wedding dresses, various clothing, and recovering furniture were among her greatest. Marjorie had a way of letting you down easy if you requested something of her that she could not commit to at that moment. She would simply say, “we’ll see”. After 68 years of serving on this earthly plain, the Lord called Marjorie (Pat) home on October 8, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, Livingston Herbert Mitchell. Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of her husband of 43 years, Milton; her 3 sons, Christopher, Sean (wife Chiara), and Ian; her great niece, India, who was involved in the Maplewood Bible Chapel Youth Program; her mother, Maisie; her brothers, Anthony (Edgie) and Freddy; her grandchildren, Logan, Zenon, and Leia; her brother-in-law, Dennis Douglas; her sister-in-law, Judi Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunts and Uncles, extended family, and dear friends all of whom she adored.
