Marion L. Cloud

On June 30th, 2020, Marion L. Cloud, Sr., passed away peacefully at home at the age of 76 with his loved ones by his side. Marion was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 28, 1943 to the late David Cloud and the late Flossie Mae Davis Cloud -Crowder. Marion was a part of Luther Judson Price High School, Class of 1962, where he made lifelong friends. He was part of the Mighty Wildcats Varsity Football team. After graduating, Marion joined the U.S. Army and was a member of the elite 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He told many funny and exciting stories about his Jump School experiences and travels. Soon after he was honorably discharged from the Army he worked for General Motors and retired as a professional Truck Driver who could tell you how to go anywhere in and around the city of Atlanta. He was known as the best “backseat driver” ever. Marion and Patricia met at The Historic Pascal’s Restaurant in Atlanta in 1966, love at first sight, they were married a year later. This strong union of 52 years lasted through his peaceful transition to go and live with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 30, 2020. Marion graduated from the Atlanta Area Tech as a licensed Plummer. He and Patricia bought a home, in a beautiful neighborhood in the suburbs of Atlanta, where they raised their five children and grandson, Quantiz whom all spoiled and loved him dearly Marion was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard L. Crowder (daddy), Grand Mother, Mary Julia Davis (affectionately called Mama), siblings David T. Cloud, Eric Crowder, Vickie Crowder-Head, Cheryl Crowder-Belcher, grandson Michael D. Cloud Jr., daughter in-law Tillet Scott-Cloud and recently deceased son, Marlon Jermaine Cloud Sr. on April 1, 2020. He is survived by his children Tony Avery (Virginia), Tammara Cloud, Marion L Cloud Jr.(Nicole), Damon Cloud, Michael Cloud and grandchildren Quantiz, Channing , Marlon Jr, Marion Lamar III, Haley (Mayflower) Cloud Malik Avery and sister Quittus (Melvin) Bell. The Cloud family, sisters and brothers Corpus Christi TX., John, Mary Ann , Bobby and Loraine. Special family, Lady Miriam (Marlon) and Lady Violet (Michael Sr). Much gratitude goes to the Rollingwood Dr.-Gresham Rd. neighbors for being friends and family for so many years, a special thanks to Dr.Hanif Boghani, Dr. Abhay Trivedi, DaVita-Decatur (who spoiled him even more), Emory-North DeKalb and the excellent care of Lanier Hospice Care, who assured his comfort at home during his last days. Marion, who never met a stranger, leaves to cherish his memory his wife Patricia, children and grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be held 3:00PM-5:00PM Monday,July 6, 2020 at our SOUTH DEKALB Chapel. Interment will be held 11:00AM Tuesday,July 7, 2020 at Georgia National Cemetery. Memories of Mr. Cloud will be cherished by his loving family and friends.
