Mae Nell Clark-Tate

Mother Sarah Mae Nell Clark Tate passed into the arms of Jesus early Wednesday morning, April 12, 2023. Her “Blessed Assurance in Heaven” realized! Sarah Mae Nell Clark Tate was born in Roanoke, Alabama, on February 14, 1926, to the late Jim and Doris (Boykins) Burden. She attended Randolph County's public schools. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Missionary Baptist Church at a young age. She subsequently joined the Jones Avenue Church of God in Christ (COGIC), currently known as the Cathedral of Faith COGIC, where she was a devoted member for many years. She served on the Usher and Missionary Boards at the Cathedral of Faith Church and took the Prayer and Bible Band into many homes. She was married to Deacon Grady Clark for more than fifty years. This union was blessed with eight children. Deacon Clark preceded her in death, and after three years, she married Pastor J. C Tate until his death ten years later. Mother Tate was devoted to the Lord's work and served in the vineyard in whatever capacity her hands could find. She enjoyed working with newly appointed pastors and small churches. Through her transitional Christian experience, she performed exemplary service to churches such as Temple of Faith, Holy Hill, and Abundant Life COGIC. Through her ministry of service, Mother Tate strengthened and enhanced the growth of the churches, organized the Women's Departments, and orchestrated various successful fundraisers to support the churches. Additionally, she served as a Sunday School teacher and on the Mother's Board at Holy Hill COGIC. Evangelist Missionary Tate served as District Missionary for the Yorkville and Calhoun Districts. Through her years of serving God’s people and her duties as the Pastor's wife at Abundant Life COGIC, Mother Tate cherished God and His people, referring to them as her "jewels." She had a phone ministry where she frequently called countless individuals to pray, counsel, encourage their spirits, and reassure them that she and God loved them. Mother Sarah Mae Nell Clark Tate's Christian existence was as lovely as the flowers she cherished. Only heaven knows what an incredible and eternal impact all her years of faithful Christian service have had on her family, her friends, and the world. Her influence and insight will endure in the hearts and minds of all who knew and adored her. As Mother Tate quietly departed this life, she was under the compassionate care of caregiver Angela Langham at We Care PCH, and Lillian Alvarez and staff of Georgia Community Hospice. In addition to Deacon Clark and Pastor Tate, she was preceded in death by her son, James P. Clark, her brother, Willie Lee Burden, and her longtime companions of over 60 years, Mrs. Gladys Hill and Mother Jewel Corker. Our Queen leaves her children Diane (Ulysses) Lee, Donnie Clark, Gayle Tyler, Sheila Clark, Cynthia (Glen) Wright Sr., Doris Chaney, Janice Clark, daughter-in-law Petrie Inge-Clark, twenty-one grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish her beautiful life forever.
