Mackenzie Alexa Hickman

Mackenzie Alexa Hickman was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 2nd, 2001, to Melinda Fletcher Hicks and Walter Eugene Hickman. Mackenzie was blessed to have a Stepfather (Dwight Hicks) & Step-Mother (Nsenga Hickman). Mackenzie graduated from South Gwinnett High school in 2019 and was entering her senior year at Georgia Gwinnett College, pursuing a degree in Psychology with a remarkable GPA of 3.72. Her academic accomplishments were a testament to her hard work and dedication. Mackenzie was a loving daughter with a great sense of humor and an infectious smile. She was so fun-loving and loved nature and animals. She was an avid reader and loved fiction and non-fiction books. Mackenzie had some incredible quirky ways of making sure that she was noticed. Mackenzie was a very caring person, and she showed her love and affection to everyone that she met. She loved silent walks in the park, roller skating, drawing, watching movies with her mom on movie night or movie day, and going to chick-fil-a on Saturday mornings. Mackenzie and her mom had a special relationship, they would talk and discuss everything. Long walks in the neighborhood, parks driving to the mall or hanging out at the bookstore. Mackenzie loved spending time with her brother Tre’. She would often bug him with the little things that she knew would annoy him and then laugh about it. She loved entertaining her sister Nsenga and little brother Gabriel by playing Roblox with them to their hearts’ content. Mackenzie loved spending time with her father and stepmother painting, drawing going on adventures in parks,s and swimming in the ocean. She was dubbed “water baby” of the family. Mackenzie loved her stepfather and would often make fun of his “old father jokes,” but she still would laugh at them. Despite making fun of his "old father jokes," Mackenzie shared a close bond with her stepfather and always found his humor amusing. Mackenzie passed away on February 15, 2023. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her mother, Melinda Hicks (stepfather, Dwight Hicks); father, Walter Hickman (stepmother, Nsenga Hickman); brothers, Walter Eugene Hickman III (Tre') and Gabriel Daouda Hickman, sister Nsenga Hickman, grandparents Jasper and Delores Fletcher, Walter and Caroldene Hickman, Loretta Hicks and step-siblings Dwight Hicks (Eunah), Jeremiah Hicks (Reesiah). God-father Torrey Peterson, Aunts: Janel Roberts (Allan), Cheryl (Moses) Jones, Tana Hickman, Tishria Hickman, Sandra Dones (Cornell), Delores Humes(Steve) Christina Hicks, Vivian Hicks, Mary Hicks Watson (Wilson) and Uncle’s: Rodric Hickman (Audrea), Eric Fletcher (Stewnell), Charles Hicks (Kyong), Robert Hicks. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. MacKenzie Hickman is preceded by her twin sister Madison Hickman, Uncle James (Jimmy) Hickman, aunt Carol Dynan Hickman, uncle Leavon Fletcher, and cousin Jarrin A. Hickman. She is also preceded by great-grandparents James Hickman, Harriette Featherstone – Owens, James H. Williams, and Katherine Williams.
