Lynda Ruth Dallas

Lynda Ruth Thomas started her journey in this world May 25, 1951 in Albany Georgia. She was born to the late Ossie Bryant and Sammy Thomas. After the passing of her parents, when she was just 14 years old, she and her 8 siblings moved to Atlanta in 1965 where they completed school and were raised by their loving Aunt Gladys. Lynda Ruth graduated from Archer High School in 1969 and later attended Morris Brown College where she studied psychology. While at Morris Brown College, Lynda Ruth became a member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority where she was affectionately called ‘Big Sister Good Thang’. She began working for The Coca Cola Company in 1973 in Miscellaneous Billing. While at The Coca Cola Company, Lynda Ruth created several of their systems and processes for billing, some still being used today. She retired after 34 dedicated years of service. After retiring from The Coca Cola Company she worked for Wayfield foods for 8 years where she became a favorite and familiar face in the bouldercrest community. Lynda Ruth married Loyd Dallas in 1979 and they had 2 beautiful girls, Jenosi Valencia Dallas and Samaria Lynn Dallas. After his transition in 1984, Lynda Ruth devoted her life to raising her daughters. She loved her family. She is survived by her sisters Dorothy Momon, Samaria Tillman, Gwyndolyn Foster, Phyllis Carole (Ike), Sammy L. Thomas (Antoinette), and Milton Thomas (Toni). She is preceded in death by her late brother Toney Darnell Thomas, Sr. and her beloved nephew Cedric Mecdew. She has a host of nieces and nephews who she loved to spoil, Johnathan, Alexander, Tifani (Leroy), Darius, Isaac (Staci), Lauren, Emmas, Joshua and Charity, Sammy Jr., Antonio, Anthony, Bernard, Nina, Nathan, Uriah, Toney Thomas Jr. and a host of others. She was a long time member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church. In the early 90’s she became a member of Israel Baptist Church. Lynda Ruth Dallas loved the Lord and enjoyed watching a host of online pastors. Lynda Ruth was a philanthropist who had a heart of gold. She especially loved animal and children’s charities. She was a long time contributor to The ASPCA, The Humane Society, The Special Olympics, the Wounded Warriors Project, The USO, St. Jude, and The United Negro College Fund. In 1996, Lynda Ruth became a homeowner and built what would be her dream home. She believed that her home was a place for family and has had many tenants providing a safe haven for many, even a studio. She enjoyed watching TV. Her all time favorite series were the godfather and Jesus of Nazareth. While she loved spending time with her family, most of all, she loved her beloved dog 'Big Boy Dallas', who was 14 years old at the time of his transition in 2019. Lynda Ruth had a lively personality. She was both sugar and spice and was often the life of the party. She loved hard and she believed that love wins. She was an avid supporter of the LGBT Community and she loved to attend shows and pageants. Her sisters were everything to her. She believed in family over everything. She enjoyed food and loved everything from caviar to soul food. She had an exquisite pallet and a strong appetite. In her kitchen you could always find an array of snacks and Coke! We will miss her smile, her big fluffy hair, her loud TV, the vabrotta in her strong alto voice, her eye rolls and warm hugs. She was a light, our light. She believed and lived in God's word and radiated His love. She would want everyone to know that she is now resting with her father. "With God, all things are possible, if you only believe!"
