Mrs. Lula Bernice Johnson

L. Bernice Johnson July 19, 1935- October 19, 2022 L. Bernice Johnson was born in Youngstown, Ohio on July 19, 1935, a daughter of the late Mable and Azar Hunt Sr. She attended Youngstown Public Schools. Bernice started her career in retail after rearing her youngest child to school age. Bernice worked at Strouss in Downtown Youngstown throughout the 1970s and 1980s. She styled many young ladies throughout her career. Bernice was first and foremost a loving daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Bernice married the love of her life Willie G. Johnson (Epps) on her 18th birthday. Their union produced 3 children. Larry, Anthony, and Karen. She devoted all her energy and attention to her family. She was always engaged and supportive of her child’s interests and aspirations, Producing in a Master Drummer AND Master Plumber in Larry and Prolific Guitarist in Anthony and a fashionista in Karen. Bernice is survived by her 3 children Larry Johnson, Anthony Johnson, and Karen Johnson Croft, (Joe Croft) 11 Grandchildren and a host of Great Grand Children, Her sister and closest friend Ms. Della Harris, 3 special nieces Ronnetta Hollinshed, Denise Harris Moses, and Jill Harris Hodge. She is proceeded in death by her parents Mable and Azar Sr., brothers Azar Jr, and Manuel Lee, and sister Christine. The family must acknowledge the Gwinnett Hospice Association and PruittHealth-Lilburn and specifically Toni Mays-Smith. Toni was a strong tower to us in our time of emotional decision-making and situations. THANK YOU TONI!. Words from her Children: Mommy, You are not gone, You are in our hearts forever.
