Lucille Banks Brown

Lucille Banks Brown was born in Dalcour, Louisiana, on October 28, 1935, to the late Isaac Banks, Sr. and Agnes Livingston Banks. Lucille Banks Brown was united in holy matrimony on January 29, 1956, to the late Daniel Brown, from this union, four beautiful children were born Daniel Michael Brown, Sr. (deceased), James Felton Brown (deceased), Dr. Janet Brown -Howard and Jacqueline Brown Washington. In 1956, Lucille was a proud graduate from Joseph S. Clark Senior High School. After graduating Lucille sought a professional career as a private caregiver. She was also employed by WWL television station in New Orleans, Louisiana where she was liked by many anchors and reporters. She had many talents such as designing hats and creating beautiful floral arrangements. Lucille had a green thumb for making plants grow. She enjoyed traveling and shopping for the latest fashions. Lucille loved to watch Home Shopping Network (HSN), “Cake Boss” with Buddy Valastro and her soap operas. Lucille accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in September 1952. She joined Zion Hill Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was pastored by the late Reverend Alexander Griffin and the late Reverend Nathaniel Johnson. Sis. Brown enjoyed singing, despite her children telling her otherwise. She served as an active member in the senior choir. Sis. Brown exhibited her leadership style by serving as the chairperson for Women's Day. She was led by the holy spirit to join Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church pastored by Reverend Dr. Moses S. Gordon, II. She served faithfully on the usher board and attended Sunday School. After Hurricane Katrina, she relocated to Georgia with her oldest daughter and family. Sis. Brown joined Poplar Hill Baptist Church pastored by Rev. Avery Headd. She attended Sunday School and served on the Mother’s Board until her health declined. On the evening of October 26, 2023, God sent his angels to escort her soul on to heaven. Sis. Brown gave cancer a tenacious fight and never once let up. She was ill for an extended period. Lucille personified the bible verse, " I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). Her unique personality touched so many lives. Sis. Brown was loved by her family and many friends. She was known to many as Mother Brown, Auntie Lou and Mimi. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; Isaac Banks, Sr. and Agnes Livingston Banks, brother; Edward Milton Banks, sons; Daniel Michael Brown, Sr. (Veronica) and the James Felton Brown. She leaves to cherish her fondest memories two loving and caring daughters; Dr. Janet Brown-Howard (Dr. Byron Howard, Sr.) and Jacqueline Brown Washington, of New Orleans, LA; five precious grandchildren; Daniel Brown, Jr., Joycelyn "Joy" Washington Burse (Harvey), Jovan Nicole Washington, and Danyetta Jontrell Brown, and Byron “BJ” Howard, Jr., eight affectionate great grandchildren; Michael Joseph, Jr., Jordan Marie Burse, Harvey Burse, III, Hailey Gross, Hayden Jerrald, Ja-kin Brown , Deshaye Brown , and Daniel Brown III. four endearing siblings; Isaac Banks, Sr., of New Orleans, LA; Mable B. Watson, of San Antonio, TX; Jerry Mae B. Stratton, of New Orleans, LA; and Agnes B. Vincent, of San Antonio, TX; and survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends especially Mr. Richard Rhodes and his lovely wife. Celebration of Life Service will be held on SATURDAY, November 4, 2023 at 10:00AM at Poplar Hill Baptist Church - 234 E. Shadburn Ave, Buford, GA; Senior Pastor Avery Headd.
