Lorna Muriel Van Buckley

Lorna Muriel Van Buckley born March 18, 1954 in Lacytown Georgetown, Guyana, peacefully transitioned on July 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love that will live in the hearts of those who knew her. She was born to the late Hilton Van Buckley and Muriel Roberts. Lorna was the seventh of eleven children. She was raised in the family home where she was born, and it was there that her character as a God-fearing, family-oriented woman first took shape. Lorna was a woman of many words, deep devotion, and unrelenting sincerity. Throughout her life, she touched many people through her wisdom, compassion, and willingness to serve. Lorna went to Saint Phillips Primary School and later joined the Guyana Defense Force and worked as an accountant for many years. She then moved to Antigua, where she worked in the hospitality industry while running her own business of catering and mouth-watering meals and making delicious pastries for her customers. In 2003, Lorna migrated to the United States in search of better opportunities for herself and her children. She earned her CNA certificate and worked in the private duty sectors, long-term care, and assisted living for many years before she retired. Above all else, Lorna was a devoted and loving mother to her children, Dillon Wilhelmina Alinyoh, Victor Emanuel Van Buckley, Shamain Adella Beckles, Shanella Oliveia Clarke, and Lincoln Woesley Clarke. She took pride in supporting, guiding, and encouraging them throughout their lives. The bond she shared with her children was one of the most cherished blessings of her life. Lorna enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved cooking. She was known to appreciate a good home-cooked meal, usually prepared by her own hands. Lorna leaves her children: Dillon Alinyoh and Son-in-law Elom Alinyoh, Victor Van Buckley and Daughter-in-law Candacia, Shamain Beckles, Shanella Clarke and Son-in-law Frederick Koulen, Lincoln Clarke and Daughter-in-law Rolesha Clarke. She is survived by her siblings: Eze Van Buckley, Sarah Edghill, Timothy Van Buckley, and Jean-Ann “Polly” Van Buckley. Lorna was the proud grandmother of Yannik, Chad, Dexter, and granddaughter-in-law Sade, David, Amariah, Joshua, Madeleine, Naomi (Kai), Ruth, Jeremy, Fredella, Abigail, Carey, Frenella, Frehannah, Zaria, Fredell, Victor, Zephaniah, Fredesha, and Fredellaka, and great-grandmother to Oziel and Magnolia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Muriel Roberts and Hilton Van Buckley; her brothers Michael, Hilborne, and James; and her sisters Claudette, Desiree, and Jean-ann.
