Lizetta Archie, 70, of Decatur, Ga passed on Sunday January 3, 2021. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday January 16, 3PM in our chapel. Obituary Lizetta Louise Archie was born on October 1, 1950 in Anniston, Alabama to the late Rufus Wright and Thelma Carpenter Wright. She transitioned to her eternal home on January 3, 2021. Lizetta accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized and became a member of 17th Street Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama. Lizetta was educated in the Anniston City School system, and graduated from Cobb Avenue High School in Anniston, Alabama in 1968. She later attended HBCU Talladega College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English in 1972. While attending college, Lizetta met and fell in love with the love of her life, Roy Archie. They married on May 19, 1972 and would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this year. To this union, two children were born. Lizetta began her career in the banking industry in 1974 with Fulton Federal, later known as Bank South. She remained in that industry until her retirement in 2014 from Reliance Trust Company as a Stock Transfer Clerk. Lizetta, affectionately known by family members as “Lou”, was always spunky and full of life. She lived for her family, children and especially her grandchildren. She showed kindness and love to everyone she met, but also was never afraid to speak her mind whenever she wanted to. She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Carpenter Wright, and father Rufus Wright, Sr.; sister, Ida Mae Carpenter; brother, Curtis Wright; brother, William O. Thomas; sister, Thelma Wright; and brother Rufus Wright, Jr. Lizetta leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 48 years, Roy Archie; daughter, Tamara C. Archie; son, Kevin C. Archie; and daughter-in-law, Deneiria L. Archie; granddaughters, Skye A. Archie and Khari K. Archie; brother, Richard Carpenter of Los Angeles, California; sister, Henrietta Wright of Anniston, Alabama; brother-in-law, Don Archie of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law Mae Wright of Atlanta, Georgia; Debra (Willie) Gooden of Oxford, Alabama; Nora (Michael) Cunningham of Oxford, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
