Linda Faye Porter "Lynn" June 4, 1950 – October 6, 2023 With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and matriarch, Linda Faye Porter, who left us on October 6, 2023, at 73. She was a shining example of love, kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith in her Christian beliefs. Lynn was born on June 4, 1950, to Melvin Simmons and Georgia Mae Bryant in Cordele, GA; her life was filled with a dedication to her family, unwavering commitment to her faith, and a tireless work ethic that inspired all who knew her. As a mother, Lynn was the epitome of selflessness. She devoted her life to raising her two children, Jasper Jr. (Angela) & Anika, with boundless love and unwavering support. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and wisdom, where she instilled in her children the values of hard work, resilience, and the importance of faith. She also cherished her role as a sister to Thelma Hall & Jimmy Simmons, and her siblings preceded in death, Robert Bryant, Otha Lee Styles, Lula McKever, and Shirley Jackson, offering them unwavering love, guidance, and support throughout their lives. Her role as a grandmother brought her immeasurable joy. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchild, Dequavious (Quay), and showered him with love, wisdom, and the joy of her stories. Lynn's kindness knew no bounds. She had an incredible ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. Her giving nature touched the lives of countless friends and acquaintances, and her compassion for those in need was a guiding light with friends, family, and strangers. Whether through a helping hand, a comforting word, or a heartfelt prayer, she was always there to support and uplift others. Lynn was a woman of faith and a faithful member of the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church; her strong Christian beliefs were the cornerstone of her life. She found solace, strength, and purpose in her devotion to God, and her unwavering faith inspired all who knew her. Her church community was a place of worship and a family where her faith flourished. Lynn's dedication to her work was a testament to her character. She was a dedicated worker, working for 41 years for Equifax and 18 years for JCPenney. She approached every task diligently and determinedly, setting an example of hard work and commitment. Her professional accomplishments were a source of pride for her, and her work ethic continues to inspire those who had the privilege of working alongside her. In her 73 years, Lynn filled our lives with love, wisdom, and grace. She leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. As we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the remarkable life she lived, the love she shared, and the faith she held dear. Though our hearts ache with grief, we find comfort in knowing that Lynn is at peace with her Creator, and her legacy of love and faith will continue to shine brightly through all whose lives she touched.
