Lawrence Oliver Isaac

Lawrence Oliver Isaac was the youngest of three children born to M. McDonald Isaac and Ethel Louise Gorham Isaac. His siblings were Annette and Ronald, deceased. Growing up in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the son of a funeral director, Lawrence enjoyed excelling in sports, the Hurricanes-a drum corp program, the high school band, and other activities. Anxious to leave Bridgeport, he came to Atlanta to attend Morris Brown College. While at Morris Brown, he participated in the band, football, and basketball. His love for jazz was also cultivated and lasted throughout his live. Following college, Lawrence matriculated to Clark Atlanta University’s graduate school. Lawrence met Ann Simmons while at Clark Atlanta graduate school. Their relationship blossomed over the years and on November 26,1983 they were united in holy matrimony. Together, they raised three children, Rahsaan, Lauren, and Langston. They joined Saint Philip AMC church in 1984. He became an active member by joining the Mighty Male Chorus and the usher board. He really enjoyed serving, ministering, fellowships and comradery that became a part of his life. Lawrence found his calling in the educational system as a middle school teacher at Sequoya Middle school. From there he went to Stone Mountain Middle School where he taught Social Studies for many years. It was evident that he really cared for those students in their difficult years and they cared for him too. He was the teacher of the year and retired from public school teaching at McNair Middle School, although he didn’t stay gone long. He went back as a part-time teacher where he remained until he went home to be with the Lord. Lawrence loved his family and his family loved him. He will be remembered and missed by his beloved wife of 42 years: Ann; children: Lauren, Langston, and Rahsaan; grandchildren: Rashun, Rashaad, R.J., and Bentley; nephew: Karl Isaac; cousins: Marilyn Nue Waters, Tanya Waters, Nuwanna Morrell, Daryl Morrell, Lorraine Nue, Antoinette Nue, Michelle Walden, Michelle Gorham, Darius J. Gorham, Mikala J. Dillard, DeAnna Jones, Vonda Jones, Justin Jones, Lee, and James Orders; Leonilla Kaunda ( St. Lucia and Toronto) Canada, Malaika Kaunda,Stasi Kaunda-Brierley, Desiree (Malaika's Daughter), Oliver (Stasi's Son) and other relatives and friends who will cherish the memory of Lawrence Oliver Isaac.
