Kittye Emerson Cannon

Mrs. Kittye Mae Emerson Cannon, 88, of Decatur, GA passed away May 6, 2023, at Arbor Terrace of Decatur. She was an active member of East Sixth Street Christian Church in Oklahoma City where she served as a Financial Secretary and President of the Usher Board for several years. She was employed for more than 20 years as an Administrative Assistant with Youth and Family Resource Center, formerly Hope House, and District Judge Glenn Dale Carter. After retiring and relocating to Georgia, she joined Ray of Hope Christian Church in Stone Mountain where she was an active member of the Golden Rays Seniors’ Ministry. She is survived by her children Regina Dianne Cannon of Atlanta, GA and Alonzo Cannon, Jr. of Redondo Beach, CA, her brother Herbert James Emerson (Celestine) of Paducah, KY, four grandchildren: Jordan Elliott of Flower Mound, TX, Morgan Elliott Parker (Derrick) of Mansfield, TX, Taylor Stephenson of Lithonia, GA and Olivia Stephenson of Atlanta, GA, six nephews and nieces: Lawrence Emerson (Tonda) of Clinton, KY, Robert Emerson (Denisiah) of Clarksville, TN, Herbert James Emerson, Jr. of Paducah, KY, Ericka Emerson-Hudson (Phillip) of Paducah, KY, Patrick Cannon (Tina) of Denton, TX and Sean Cannon (Patrice) of Oklahoma City, sons-in-law: Johnny Elliott of Dallas, TX, and Dr. Earl Stephenson, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, along with a great host of friends, co-workers, and church members that she loved dearly. Kittye Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Cressie Mae Farmer Emerson, husband of 39 years Alonzo Cannon, Sr., daughter Sharlyn Cannon Elliott, brother John Robert Emerson and sister-in-law Virginia Ann Emerson. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11:00am, Clinton Cemetery located at Ringo Drive, Clinton, KY with her nephew Rev. Lawrence Emerson officiating. Repass will begin immediately following the service at Clinton First United Methodist Church - Young Center, 206 S. Washington St., Clinton, KY.
