Mrs. Kathy Elaine Moss

Kathy Elaine Moss was born in the small town of Moneta Virgina on March 4, 1961, the second of four children to her parents, Norma Jean Gates Saunders, and Willie Edward Saunders. Kathy spent her early years growing up on a small farm with her parents and grandparents. Kathy was a wonderful person, known for her warm and kind-hearted nature. A dear friend once said she could “smile with her eyes.” She enjoyed bowling and television shows about first responders, which brought her much joy and relaxation. Kathy attended Staunton River High School where she played the clarinet in the marching band and lettered in volleyball. She furthered her education at Emory and Henry University, where she continued playing volleyball at the colligate level. Kathy left Virgina in the early 1980s and moved to Maryland. From Maryland she commuted to Washington, DC where she started her career as a legal assistant. This was a source of pride resulting in a life-long career. She was dedicated and hardworking, always striving to provide the best support to her employers and coworkers. Her diligence and strong organizational skills made her an invaluable member of the firms she worked for, notably the prestigious firms of King & Spalding and Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP. Kathy was a volunteer for her local fire department and provided meals on holidays, with her favorite being Thanksgiving. She attended EMT conventions where she once met her favorite television actor, Randolph Mantooth from the television show “Emergency.” She continued her support of the fire department when she moved to Georgia and was well known to the local Clayton County Fire Department. She often baked cookies for them. Kathy is survived by her loving husband David Moss, her siblings Bonnie Henderson, Edwina Williams and beloved baby brother Todd Saunders, cousins John and Mel Harris, and other family members in the state of Virginia. Kathy Elaine Moss will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warm smile, caring nature, and dedication to her loved ones and friends will always be remembered. We love her and may she rest in eternal peace.
