Katherine Mitchell Hamm

Annie Katherine Hamm was born April 18, 1936 to the late West (Buddy) and Essie Williams Mitchell. She was married to the late Charlie Esco Hamm for more than 31 years. To this union was born four children, Charles Hansel Hamm Sr., Patricia Hamm Lee, Charline Hamm Hall, and Lisa Hamm Hardeman. She became an employee of Lithonia Lighting in 1966 and later transferred to Lithonia Emergency Lighting where she was a lead supervisor and a dedicated employee. She retired from Lithonia Emergency Lighting in 1992, after 26 years of service. Besides her family and friends, Calvary Hill Baptist Church was her next great love. She faithfully severed at Calvary Hill for more than 47 years. While a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church, the Lord created a passion in her for the women of Calvary Hill. This passion grew and later became a ministry that would be known as Calvary Hill Baptist Church Ladies Seminar. The seminar has been an annual event for more than 39 years, with each seminar beginning with her favorite hymn Sweet Hour of Prayer. At no time was she not in her front pew dressed in her Sunday best, matching jewelry, and her Sunday heels. Those who knew her best knew her God given gift was the gift of hospitality. She loved feeding and serving others on her fine china to include stemware, place cards, butter dishes, gravy boat, and salt wells, along with her sugar crusted yeast rolls. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior in 1977. On April 1, 2024 God saw fit to call her home. She was proceeded in death by her son Charles Hansel Hamm Sr., grandson David Lamont Giles, her brothers Jessie, Wyman, Layman “Buster” and William Anthony “Tony” Mitchell; sisters Ruby Mitchell, Grace Jackson, Madeline Stewart, Dorothy Thompson, Eloise Printup, and Janice Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter in law Shirley Hamm (Charles Hansel Hamm Sr., her daughter Patricia Lee (Robert Lee), daughter Charline Hall (Joseph Dexter Hall) daughter Lisa Hardeman, sister Rebecca Chaney (Edgar Chaney), 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and a host of niece, nephews, beloved grand pets, other relatives and friends.
