Julia G McDaniel

Julia G. McDaniel was born in Ellaville, Georgia on October 6, 1936 to the late Mr. Oscar (O.C) Green and the late Mrs. Tiny Maude Green. She was the first born of ten children. She received her education at Hosa Cobb Institute in Cordele, Georgia and later transitioned to Daugherty High School in Albany Georgia where she received her diploma. After graduating high school, she attended Albany State where she received her degree in education. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Alphonso McDaniel and from their union, three children were born, Cedric Bernard McDaniel, Eric Keith McDaniel, and Reginald Undra McDaniel. Her grandson Tony Benitez McDaniel was also raised by her. Her first born Cedric Bernard McDaniel, mother Tiny Maude Green, father Oscar Green, sisters Mrs. Mattie Harvey and Mrs. Barbary Harvey precede her in death. Julia had a successful career working as an educator and she worked for the Dekalb County School system for over 25 years retiring in 2001. She was a teacher at Leslie J. Steele and Peachcrest Elementary. She was also the President of the PTA at Hooper Alexander Elementary. Although she loved teaching, it was a distant second to her love of being a faithful member at Greater Springfield Baptist Church. She spent countless hours at Springfield serving as an Usher and Treasurer. She was always at Springfield cooking and she was willing to do whatever her church needed. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Her survivors are her sons, Eric Keith McDaniel, and Reginald Undra McDaniel; two grandsons, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Benitez McDaniel (Tiffany), and Jordan McDaniel; one great granddaughter Taylor Julia McDaniel; siblings Ms. Gradean Ford (Deacon Tommy), Mrs. Varnell Doster, Ms. Patricia Green, Ms. Mary Fletcher, Mr. Oscar Green (Mary), Mr. Winfred Green (Brenda), and Mrs. Debra West (Ronnie). A host of nieces and nephews including Rena Harvey and Carl Harvey, and cousins. Lovely longtime friends the Leaphart, Ellis, Cody, Price, Butler, and Gleaton families, Mr. Tuck, Mr. Jeremiah Green, Ms. Annie Green, Mrs. Inez Alexander, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Howard (Ann).
