Joseph Albert Etheredge, Jr.

On August 27,2023 Joseph Etheredge Jr., 50 of Atlanta, GA passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife, Monique at his side. Joseph was born in Plainfield, NJ to Barbara and Joseph Etheredge, Sr. He was educated in the Plainfield School System. In 1994, he earned a degree in automotive repair from Edison Job Vocational School in NJ. Repairing cars was not only his career choice, but his passion. In 2001 Joseph relocated to Atlanta, GA where he worked at an array of dealerships and developed his skillset so, that he became a master mechanic in all things automotive. He was also a proud member of United Men Empowering Brotherhood. In 2010, Joseph and Monique became inseparable and they married in 2012. Joseph became a bonus father to Nigel and Attias and they extended their family with their son, James Joseph. Joseph was strong willed, generous, loyal, and brave. He had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved going on trips with his wife and sons and thoroughly enjoyed laughter with his brother and sisters. He will be remembered most as a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. To know him was to love him. Joseph is preceded in death by his son: Attias Cade; brother: James Etheredge; maternal grandparents: Arbula and Waverly Madison; paternal grandparents: Rev. Gilbert and Ola Mae Etheredge; Maternal great-grandmothers: Geneva Chamberlin and Florence Anderson; Maternal great-grandfather: Waverly Greenleaf Madison, Sr. Uncles: Johnnie Etheredge, Herbert Etheredge and James Etheredge. Joseph is survived and dearly missed by his devoted and caring wife: Monique Cade-Etheredge; sons: Nigel Weeks and James Joseph Etheredge; loving parents: Barbara Motley, Joseph A Etheredge, Sr. and bonus father: Rev. Marion Motley; sisters: Daphne Branch and Rasheeda Ali Etheredge; brother: Hassan Etheredge; mother-in-love: Carolyn Cade; father-in-love: Esau Lewis, Jr.; aunt: Sarah Etheredge; Aunts-in-love: Faye Williams, and Dorothy Cade; Uncles: George (Patricia) Madison and Vernon Madison; nieces: Christina and Jamie Branch; nephew: Michael Branch; bonus niece: Violet Vasquez; God-daughter: Maleah Brooks; Godmother in-love: Margaret Bridges; sister-in-law: Monica (McDonald) Acolatse; brothers-in-law: Patrick (Michelle) Rose, Timothy Lewis, and Travis Lewis; special brother-in-loves and dear friends: Christopher (Charmaine) Judge, Rasean “Skoota” (Omolola) Hill, Derek (Latiana) Harris, Mark (Sade) Owen, Kenneth (Tomika) Brooks, Theodore (Alicia) Howard; and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
