Joseph Ansumanah Dennis

Ansu was born in Fairfax, VA on August 6, 2003, and went home to be with the Lord in Snellville, GA on June 14, 2023. Ansu's parents believe that they received a tremendous blessing from God to have had a son like Ansu for 19 years. Ansu had one of the most important tools to succeed in life, emotional intelligence. He was a well-behaved, easy-going child, and an emotionally disciplined young man. He was loving and kind and demonstrated this to the people he loved primarily through acts of service and (with a little bit of bribing from his mom) quality time. He was his little sister's free Uber driver, taking her and her friends to various activities, picking them up, and often dropping them off to their separate homes. He was respectful towards everyone, especially authority figures like his parents, teachers, and others who were in the role of authority in his life. He listened to his parents and took their advice on almost everything, and was never rebellious. He was his mother's first love, her heart, her helper, her ardent/unwavering supporter, her protector, her everything. There was almost nothing he wouldn't do for his momma. She asked him not to pursue going away to college but instead stay home and commute to the closest college because she wasn't ready for him to leave home and he readily agreed. Ansu was driven and motivated to achieve academic excellence and was looking forward to having a career in Cybersecurity. He studied doggedly and received an A in all his classes two semesters in a row. Based on everything we observed in his attitude and behavior, he was on track to continue excelling in his studies and had a bright future in the Information Technology field. Ansu was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia at birth and was on the highest spectrum of the disease. He experienced multiple sickle cell crises and frequent hospitalizations as a baby and in early childhood, but he faced all of the pain and struggle as a warrior and never complained. Over the last four years, he experienced fewer and fewer hardships with the disease and was hopeful about his future. Ansu believed in God and accepted Him as his Lord and Savior at an early age. His grandmother, mother, uncle, and others kept him grounded in his faith and encouraged him to have a personal relationship with God which he did. Chronology of life: 2003-2004 - Centreville, VA 2004-2006 - Lawrenceville, GA 2006-2017 - Columbia, MD 2017-Present - Gwinnett County, GA - Brookwood Cluster Education: Pre-school - Celebration Christian Academy - Columbia, MD Elementary School - Waterloo Elementary School - Columbia, MD Middle School - Mayfield Woods Middle School - Columbia, MD High School - Brookwood High School - Snellville, GA - Graduated in 2021 Gwinnett Technical College - Started in August 2021 On track to earn a Cybersecurity Diploma in December 2023 He planned to transfer to Kennesaw State University in Marietta, GA in the Spring of 2024 to pursue a Computer Science Degree by May 2026. Our hearts are extremely heavy with grief due to losing one of the most important persons in our lives.
