Johnny Earl Williams

Johnny Earl Williams was born to the late Laura Mae Williams and Johnny Earl Williams Sr. in Reform, AL on December 31, 1949. He departed this life in a peaceful sleep April 3, 2023, at 73 years old surrounded by his loved ones: his wife (Ruby), Son (Johnathan), Daughter (Leah), Granddaughter (Porter) and Sister-in-Law (Larciel Swinger). He was the oldest of seven children (Gary (Baerbel, deceased) Williams, Doris Childress (Gary, deceased), Norma Acoff (Johnny). He was proceeded in death by Robin Williams, Patricia Ann Williams and Angela Marie Williams). He married Ruby L. H. Williams on December 11, 1971, and from that union they bore 2 children: Johnathan Williams and Leah Williams Fitch (Terrence Fitch). He has 4 granddaughters: Jayda V. Williams, April Williams, Hope Williams and Porter Fitch. Johnny was a loving husband and father. He absolutely loved going on cruises with his wife, and they set sail every year in December to celebrate their anniversary. They celebrated 51 years of marriage this past year. He worked and retired from Flying Tigers/Federal Express in 2006 after 30 years with the company. He was a faithful and committed man, not only to his family and friends but to his job and church as well and was affectionately known as “Uncle Johnny” by his nieces and nephews. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and church member. He never met a person that he could not make laugh. He had a genuine and kind personality. He was a faithful member of Holy Fellowship C.O.G.I.C. for over 30 years and was affectionately called, “fireball Johnny” by his Bishop, Michael Paden, Sr. because of his quick style of delivering the word of God as he ministered. During his time at Holy Fellowship, he was ordained a deacon and a minister, and was later elevated to elder. Because he loved the word of God and was punctual on Sunday mornings, he was appointed as the Sunday School Superintendent and served in this position for more than 20 years. He was always dependable, kind hearted, and full of life. Until the moment God called him home, his character and personality never changed. Johnny had a passion for sports and spent 25 years as a Dekalb County umpire and referee. Supporting the youth brought him joy, and he would drive miles to sit and cheer them on. Yes, we sorrow the loss of a great man, but we find comfort in knowing he no longer has to suffer, he no longer has to go in and out of the hospital, and he is now with his heavenly father. We rejoice knowing the kind of man Elder Johnny Williams was. He will be missed, but he will never be forgotten. Thank you for being the man you were and for being a true example of a Godly man. WE LOVE YOU. He will be forever loved and missed by a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-laws, and brothers-in-laws
