Home going services for Mr. Jimmy Hodge will be held at 12:NOON, Saturday, July 13, 2013. Interment Southview Cemetery, 1990 Jonesboro Road, Atlanta Georgia. Levett and Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc, 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway Decatur, Ga 404-241-5656.Mr. Jimmie Lee Hodge Sr. was born May 18, 1930 in Coffee County , Ga. He was the 8th child of nine children born to Alice and John Alfred Hodge Sr. of whom proceeded him in death.Jimmie received his education in Irwin County system. At any early age, after the death of his father he began working to take care of his mother and younger sister. At an early age he joined St. John Baptist Church .He met the love of his life Fannie Lee Mobley in 1948. They were joined in holy matrimony on December 19, 1950. They enjoyed 62 years of love and devotion. He wouldn’t go anywhere without her. They were closely bonded.To this union 4 children were born Curine, Mae Helen, Carolyn and Jimmie Lee Hodge Jr.While in Ocilla he worked for Irwin EMC as a lineman. After that he relocated to Atlanta , Ga and worked for Georgia State University where he retired from in 1995. He couldn’t sit still so he went and got another job at the Research Library in Atlanta .In 1973 Mr. Hodge was an entrepreneur and opened a soul food restaurant by the Greyhound Station in downtown Atlanta . People came form far away tp get Fannie Lee’s fried chicken and Carolyn’s turnip greens. Jimmie Lee was a nurturing, quiet and reserved man. But when he spoke everyone listened, he didn’t have to repeat himself. He enjoyed watching wrestling on television and playing with all the children and giving them what they want. He never said “No”to them. They all were spoiled rotten by him.He kept the family laughing with his funny remarks. He went home to be with the Lord on July 8th, 2013. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Fannie Lee Hodge, 3 daughters Curine (Al) Smith, Mae Helen (Leroy) Robertson, and Carolyn Hodge, 1 son Jimmie Lee Hodge Jr. who preceded him in death. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren Sonja (Joseph) Sellers, Laranico (Blake) Wood, Yolanda Robertson, Dre Robertson, Tia( Vance Jr.) Hayes, Timothy Wansley, Tiffany Wansley, Terence ( Nikki) Wansley, India Robertson and Mechelle Robertson, 20 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
