Jimmie Thomas

Mr. Jimmy Thomas was born March 31, 1952, in Samson, Alabama to the late Lorenzo and Flora Thomas (Hicks) of Enterprise, AL. He attended Warren Smith High School in New Brockton, AL., with extended education at McArthur Tech in Opp, AL. Deciding to further his development, he attended AtteburyJob Corps in Attebury, IN. receiving a technical degree in Automotive mechanics with a focus in Electronics. Jimmy loved to travel and see different places. Deciding that he wanted to place his roots somewhere new, he found Atlanta as his home. As he settled into the city, he met his wife Janice and began to grow a home in Decatur, GA. Using his knowledge of mechanics, Jimmy worked at a few great companies including Atlanta Forklift and Tri-Chem as a foreman. Within a few years, opportunity knocked and a position with Atlanta's transit authority MARTA became available. Landing this role is where he would put his knowledge to work by ensuring the safety of city buses. After 25 years of service as a Master Mechanic, Jimmy retired from MARTA in 2013 and gained many friends and colleagues along the way. Preceding him in death: Lorenzo Thoams(Father), Flora Thoams(Mother); Five brothers: Robert Thomas, KT Thomas, Leo Thomas, William Thomas, and Fred Thomas: Two sisters: Annie Lois King, and Mary Lois McClain. He leaves to cherish his legacy a loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Janice D. Thomas of Decatur, GA. One daughter Renetia Y. Campbell (Marcus) of Los Angeles, CA. A step-daughter, Angela P. Williams of Atlanta, GA. Five grandchildren: Eric Epps, Jr. Chad, Aaliyah, and Noah Campbell of Los Angeles, CA. Kendall E. Boney of Atlanta, GA. Four brothers; Gillis Thomas (Gwen) of Pensacola, FL., Dennis Thomas (Vivian), Johnny Thomas (Sue), and Fredrick Thomas(Tasha), all of Enterprise, AL. Three sisters; Annie Cunnigham, LaceyThomas, and Ethel Herring all from Enterprise, AL. Sister-in-laws Ruby Thomas of Defuniak Springs, FL., Pearl Thomas of Philadelphia, PA., and Catherine Thomas of Enterprise, AL. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends. Celebration of Life Services for Jimmie Thomas will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2023, at 3:00 PM. These services will be recorded and streamed live.
