Life’s Reflections “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. ”II Timothy 4:7 Jeremiah Darryl Gadson “Jerry”, the youngest of six children of Jacob and Irene Gadson was born on December 12, 1964 in Dorchester, South Carolina, transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, July 2, 2016. Jerry was preceded in death by his son: Joshua, Mom: Elder Irene Gadson; Dad: Deacon Jacob Gadson; sisters: Elder Gwendolyn Gadson On August 24, 2002, Jerry and Jocelyn Cheeks were united in Holy Matrimony. They enjoyed rearing his two sons from a previous marriage and raised as a youth in the House of God Church in Harleyville, SC where he received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost at a very young age, Jeremiah was very active in every aspect of the church that involved teaching, music and youth ministry. He became a deacon as a young man because of his work, faithfulness and dedication to God. After moving to Atlanta, GA, he continued to work in the House of God Church where he served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board and worked faithfully in that capacity until he was called into the ministry. He later joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Spiritual Advisor for Hope at the Well Domestic Violence Ministry and initiated and served asthe Director of the Counseling Ministry. When the sun set on the life of this magnificent man, Jeremiah was an Associate Minister at Berean Christian Church. He served as Assistant Coordinator of the Counseling Ministry, was active in Men’s Ministry and in several aspects of Berean’s Christian Church. One of Jeremiah’s favorite scriptures, 1 Peter 3:8-12 was one he lived and practiced daily. Jerry was really an “ORDINARY” person who did “EXTRAORDINARY” things. He was a very unique and inquisitive lad, who matured to become a motivator. He also had a great sense of humor, a very deep and thoughtful person, a man of wisdom, a renowned peacemaker, a very high achiever, a role model, one who valued education and lived by what he believed. Jerry was an accomplished musician and soloist throughout his tenure in The House of God Church. He played several instruments, namely, steel guitar, organ, bass guitar and drums. Jerry was an exceptional father to his children, especially to his deceased son, Joshua. Even though Joshua could not see or speak; he always knew when his father was around because of the devotion, love and affection he always received. The manner in which Jerry and Joshua communicated was a bond that could only exist in the loving environment Jerry and Jocelyn provided for him. Additionally, Jerry was an excellent uncle, who loved and encouraged all of his nieces and nephews. He was their role model in many ways and taught several of them how A legacy of loving memories will be cherished forever by his loving and devoted wife: Jocelyn; son: Jeremiah Daniel; daughter: Jocelyn Miah; sisters: Geraldine Fox and Kathryn Gadson, Charlotte, NC; brother: Jacob Israel (Alice) Gadson of Nashville, TN; mother and father-in- law: Brenda Cheeks and Roger Cheeks, Richmond, VA; sister-in- law: Alana Johnson, Richmond, VA aunts: Gussie Robinson of Somerset NJ, Irene Jordan & Maria Burrell of Richmond, VA; uncles: Mordecai Darby, Jr. of Somerset, NJ, Clint Jordan & Gregory Jordan, Richmond, VA and Nathaniel Jordan, New Kent County, VA, twenty-eight nieces and nephews; twenty-nine grand nieces and nephews, God-daughters: Toria Coffey and Cindy Gadson, a great host of loving cousins, awesome friends, and an incredible church family. Jerry’s Legacy:  Graduated Valedictorian-Harleyville- Ridgeville High School, Dorchester, South Carolina with a full scholarship to Georgia Tech  Graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering  Graduated -University of South Carolina- Master’s Degree in Business Administration  Graduated – Luther Rice University - Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling  International Board Certified Christian Counselor - MABC, MBA  Graduated Luther Rice Seminary and University - Master of Divinity Degree  State of Georgia Certified Christian Counselor and Therapist  1994-Employed by Coca Cola Company as Financial Analyst  Director and Senior Counselor of Life Care & Wisdom Center, Inc.
