Janice Rollins-George

In accordance with His Plan, our Heavenly Father lovingly called his good and faithful servant, Janice La Verne George home (formerly Janice Rollins and Janice Mc Mobley), after sharing her earthly presence with us for 72 years. Our cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend completed her life’s journey on May 3, 2018. On October 25, 1945, in Waycross Georgia, Joe and Virginia Mc Mobley welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Janice into their growing family. She was the second of three children. Janice grew up in the city of Waycross. She graduated from Center High School in 1963. She then earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from Tuskegee Institute at Tuskegee Alabama. Janice earned her teaching credential from the University of Southern California in the 1960’s. In 1990, she went on to earn a Masters degree in education from Pepperdine University at Malibu California. On March 17, 1971, Janice married Jeff Rollins JR. in Los Angeles California. On January 26, 1977, they had their first and only son Jared Rollins who they raised in Seal Beach California. Jared Married Joanie Kahn on June 25, 2009, in Newport Beach California. Janice was able to experience a great amount of joy by way of Alyssa Kahn Rollins; Janice’s first grandchild and daughter of her son. In 2013 Janice married Eugene George in Atlanta Georgia. They resided in Lawrenceville Georgia until she passed. Janice’s unwavering faith in God constantly sustained her. She was a pillar of love and courage to her friends and family. Throughout her life she was always a member of a local church in every city she lived; Mount Zion AME and Austin Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Waycross Ga, Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles Ca, Cottonwood Christian Center in Los Alamitos Ca. and Evangel Community Church in Snellville Ga. Her warm spirit spilled over to her professional career where she had a long and fruitful 34-year career as a first-grade school teacher; starting with Compton Unified School district in 1968 and retiring from Long Beach Unified School district in 2003. She will be remembered by all as a faithful and loving person who always put God and her family first. We are grateful for the time we were able to spend with Janice before she left the earth to be with the Lord. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Eugene George, son Jared Rollins and his wife Joanie, their daughter Alyssa Rollins (Janice’s granddaughter), close friends Gladys Newman, Hellen Stringer and a host of family and friends. Homegoing services for Ms. Janice La Verne George, will be held Friday, May, 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Evangel Community Church, 3857 Centerville Rosebud Rd. - Snellvile, GA - 30039 . Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. at Evangel Community Church.
